Under Chandrika we had the far reaching constitutional proposals

They were beautifuuly typed by GL Pieries secretary but UNP refused to sit in the panel. When UNP was ready madame pulled the plug by taking over all the important ministries and called for a new gen election.

Prabakaran Has Done To Tamils What No Dutugemunu Could

Not only to Sri Lanka Tamils, but also for the Tamil nation in all other countries are facing some difficulties due to thie VP factor.

If India is with VP, the result will be golden for Tamils.

After VP blast Rajiv, and due to the potential threat from Tamilnadu, India will not help VP to gain the Eelam.

After all, at least 35,000 Tamils died thanks to this Eelam movement.

There is a popular Sinhala Proverb:

'Blowing a conch into the ears of a deaf person'

Looks like some idiot totally missed the essence of the article worrying about type writers etc.

Raigamkolla says
Inspite of Dutugamunu making inroads into tamil areas in the east and north central, tamil become the state language and there was a tamil king for entire Lankadeepa at the time of British invasion. Thanks to British, slanka became one country, which subsequently, local leaders ruined by misrule. If it was not for British, Slanka would have remained as three kingdoms,..

true, things to ponder !

Acrually what Prabakaran tries is good for the country as Singapore and Malaysia have progressed much better after the former was enforced to secede for refusing to give foremost place to Malay language and Malaysians.

For people who cannot co-exist because the numerically superior group wants to oppress the minorities, separate ways are more productive and contructive. Only very few highly intellectuals like Prof Wijemanne and Dr Senewiratne from the majority realise the benefi,t propabilily because theose scholars are at least a millenium ahead of the rest.

This is a selfish war for all parties involved. Politicians and leaders both past and present are responsible for this sorry! state.

It is good to have visions and goals which is realistic, but not at the cost of the innocent lives and future generations to come.

Without prejudice, Well said Editor!

I agree, we are helping ourselves to kill our own.

*what are the choices we have?

*are we able to trust the Sinhalese again ?

*are we so sure the 1983 will not repeat again?

*are we making the same mistake again like we did in 1948 to live side by side with the Sinhalese?

*what is the guarantee the Sinhalese will not change the constitution , promises again to suit them selves once the ltte gave up arms?
who will underwrite such proposals?

*what would make the Sinhalese to feel the pain of Tamils?

*should the ltte kill enough sinhala civilians to match the number of dead Tamils?

*is the ltte capable of doing such thing if they are so ruthless or are they so toothless?

*do the ltte have the intention to kill sinhala civilians to match the number of dead Tamils?

*do the ltte has the resources to carry out such task?
who is stopping the ltte from doing such think?

*if prabhakaran is a convict all ready ,he might as well do such thing? NO? WHAT HAS HE GOT TO LOOSE?

*why the ltte is not doing such thing? would it make the Tamils happy if he do that?

*is he a ruthless terrorist or a toothless tiger?

I?m all for peace but i have a view after learning our history that we cannot live with the Sinhalese in peace. i hope the Sinhalese realize that and agree for a peaceful partition. i do not support killing each other.

Demala harako,

For people who cannot co-exist because the numerically superior group wants to oppress the minorities,

Excuse me?

We began all this in 1939 with G.G. Ponnambalam attacking the Sinhalese in a virulent speech in 1939, resulting in the first Sinhala Tamil Riot,

^^^ Says one of your own -- Under Brit Rule. What 'Tamil Oppression' ?

After the war SJV and others used every chance to gore the government instead of building bridges.

^^^ Your other buffoon took over, adds inventions such as 'Tamil Homeland'.

Our Colombo-Tamil leaders arrogantly started the ball rolling, and even claimed that they are 'ready for state terror'.

^^^ Your leaders adds fuel to fire again, reach the point of no return.

This is how the Tamils destroyed the country. You suffer because of your own leaders stupidity.
