UNP expressed its readiness to signa peace treaty with LTTE.

The government will soon bring about a political solution through the APRC, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday. He said history had proved that the ethnic conflict could not be solved by terrorism.

Sinthaka:

The LTTE regional office would issue a certificate

Many countries, like Isreal, S. Korea, Taiwan, have mandatory service in the army. So, I do not think it is unusual for TE government to follow such practice.

In fact TE administration has put a limit on the number from one family that can join their military units. So, in that sense, TEAF (Tamil Eelam Armed Forces) are little more liberal than those countries, mentined above.

We all are a part of one continent :)

pera
the problem is pera,, nobody (no countries in the world) want to underwrite any solution to our conflict.
purely because what happens if the majority in the island renegade in it's promise like it happened many times after independent.

yes we are part of one continent but uniting with the continent without solving the issue at home will not solve the conflict once united with the continent.

it seems to me,,the govt says, we joint the SAARC but please fight the ltte instead of us. it does not work like that, your govt is already receiving enough help without all these loony proposals.

what is the problem accepting the UN office to solve the ethnic conflict?
