VP mentioned that after a final settlement he will step down, and someone else will take the poltical powers for the region

you know what I actually beleive this is the case, he maybe remain as advisor but he has a goal and he is hell bent achieveing it, wthere he gets it , I don t know. He knows it has been 30 years and timeis running out, He wants to see it before he dies. His life is crap all he does is draw battle plans and lives in a bunker. Not much of a life, so people can write he has loads of money, for what though?!?!?!?

I don't think eelam will happen, but you know what in recent months I think it will, you know why purley cos MR is driving lanka to the ground.

I suppose his tactic is to wipe the LTTE quick and subjugate the tamils quick, but if this takes years the economy will plummet, which means teh country will at some point will no longer we able to go to war! and if LTTE is aorund or a group like it, they will take independence for themselves.

You know what , LTTE may not exist, but if you don t get to the root of the problem some group of some sort will exist

This way or that way, Tamils should not compare themselves with GOSL, and should aim for higher standards.

i am glad no Sinhalese civilian has been killed in airstrikes, and seems as though Tamils have learned from their past mistakes

Tamils over the world should to try and make their cause accepted by international community. This does involve criticising LTTE when they take the wrong track, but without distancing themselves from LTTE.

GOSL is a joke to the whole world, world leaders/representatives refused to meet MR at the last UN summit, and now MR can only get a photograph with a Bollywood actor. Tamils should not compare their leaders with him.

I know, even when he gave a talk only 4 representive from countries turned up, and rea y small countries. Some countries, like Jpan, only support SL for their own gains in oil or commodities, other than that they know the score

And that is what all the top experts are saying. You took the East follow up with a political package (where the hell is it?) if you want to corner the LTTE, isolate it poltically, cutt its support base.

i.e. if tamils are treated fairly then LTTE can t spout dicrimnation charges, tamil dispora will stop surporting. Keep up the abductions, bombings and killing it just makes the struggle stronger.

But these fools don t understand from past mistakes

Remember what Chandrika was spouting after she took Jaffna

Anud, you still have not told me why the Chelva pacts were unfair, struggling bru?

i doubt if GOSL was in their best behaviour for years it would change their approval from Tamils. LTTE have not attacked Muslims for 15 years, but Muslims are still very bitter about what LTTE did to them and they do not want to be part of a Tamil majority state/country. Therefore it would be expected Tamils would take up a similar principle with GOSL, considering the number of victims in the war.

Pharoah,

To a pint I agree, but LTTE have treated tamils bad also, I suppose it is in the name of the struggle, would be interesting to see how they would be treated if eelam ever comes about. I don't think tamils would want an LTTE goverment though.

Its a pity about wha the LTTE did to the muslims, it was out of secruity the same what teh USA did to the 3rd 4 th generation japs.

of course, but every struggle has internal problems, most even worse than LTTE. I would say child recruitment is one thing they have to definetly stop, no matter the balance of the war.

Tamil-Muslim animosity goes back long time when one of the former Education minister, a Muslim, introduced this standardisation scheme for university entrance where Tamils had to score higher marks. this caused distrust among the communities, and also some Muslim extremists indulged in violence with GOSL against Tamil citizens in the East for their benefits. but I agree LTTE should have been more mature about the situation
