The illa people were living in both South India and Sri Lanka, and according to many articles found on the web, illa people are also dravidians. Let me reread Prof. Indrapalan's book again in the library and come back to you but remember, I have not finished with you, I will come with the necessary evidence to continue this argument on a later date.

CholaPandyan..

The illa people were living in both South India and Sri Lanka, and according to many articles found on the web, illa people are also dravidians.

''according to many articles found on the web'' .. What complete boll*cks!!..

Let me guess!!.. would the authors of these alleged articles include any of the following: Prof. C.K. Sittampalam, P.Pushparatnarn, S. Gunasingham, Dr P. Ragupathy, Mrs G. Thanapakiyam.. A well know collection of Pro-Eelam His-Storyian's!!.. :O))

Let me tell you what the rest of the World Academic body say on this matter..

The Ila people of Sri Lanka did indeed travel between the Island and South India!!.. However!!.. these ancient people were not in any way related to the Dravidian speaking people that eventually colonised South India!!.. These ancient Mesolithic tribes were in Sri Lanka well before the Dravidian speaking tribes migrated to South India..

The Dravidian culture popularly associated with South India is not South Indian in origin. It started in the Mediterranean region, and moved from there to north India, to the east of the Indus. Brahui, a Dravidian language, is spoken even today in Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and Baluchistan. There are Dravidian monuments in Karachi, and there is Dravidian influence in the Rigveda. Thereafter the Dravidians moved down to an intermediate region, probably Gujerat or Kathiawar and came into South India from there. Tradition says Tamil people came from this intermediate region.

The culture did not remain pure Dravidian either. The traditions mentioned in the Sangam literature show considerable Indo-Aryan influence. Demedas whose names appear in Brahmi inscriptions in Sri Lanka, bear Indo-Aryan names and appear to have come under Indo-Aryan influence before they moved to Sri Lanka. The Mediterranean influence is not confined to the Dravidian culture.

The Stone Age (Mesolithic) culture of south India, dating around 1200 BC, is similar to the Mediterranean stone age culture and may have arrived in South India from western Asia. It went first to Maharashtra then to Karnataka. And from there, it went along the Krishna river to Andhra Pradesh. It diffused into Tamilnadu from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh: Early Stone Age sites have been discovered in both North and South India with the sole exception of Tamilnadu. They are found in abundance in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala, with very few sites in Tamilnadu. The stone age (Mesolithic) tools of Sri Lanka are similar to those found in Karnataka.

Dr. Nilakanta Sastri - a reputed authority on South Indian history - suggests that the Dravidians arrived in South India more or less at the same time as the Indo-Aryan speaking people came to North India. But he himself says that:

''it is evident that starting somewhere about 1000 B.C. the movement of the Indo-Aryan speaking people into the South proceeded more or less steadily and peacefully, and had reached its completion sometime before the establishment of the Mauryan empire which included in its fold all India except the extreme South.''

So it is clear from the evidence that Sri Lanka was already inhabited by an indigenous people with a Mesolithic culture - the probable descendents of the Raksha, Yakka and Naga people mentioned in the Mahavamsa - well before the Dravidians came to South India..

Let me reread Prof. Indrapalan's book again in the library and come back to you but remember, I have not finished with you, I will come with the necessary evidence to continue this argument on a later date.

Yes breadbin!!.. do indeed do that before you decide to quote the Good professor next time!!.. :O)))

I shall eagerly wait till you do!!.. :O)))))

What a Joke!!.. who exactly are you trying to fool kiddo with this bluff charge???.. coming in here saying ''I have not finished with you''!!.. ..Hilarious!!..

This is coming from a kid who 2 months ago was claiming Prof. Indrapala said this, Prof. Indrapala said that!!...

As I concluded from the very beginning, and said at the time..YOU haven't even read the good Professors Book!!..

Now you sheepishly concede that you need to.. wait for it!!.. ''Let me reread Prof. Indrapalan's book again''!!.. ..Hilarious!!..

Yes you do that kujo!!.. :O))))

Chota Pandan, or Bada Pandan I have seen pandans but you are the greatest.
Maaveera grave yard is the only peace of land you can rest in piece. That is also going to be a temporary place. Once the war is over we are going to wipe out and put up a five star hotel for Norwegians.

Chota Pandan Tamils never had a history and they are just kallathoonies influx in several thousands as refugees. Better you change your tribe name as Refugee. It is better than calling you people as Tamils because you people keep the name. We call you people kallathooni.

Do not make a futile attempt to change the history. Your modern history starts from 1983 which is going to last only for another few years. After that it gets exterminated with you people. Your so called Tamil kings have not done anything for the country, if there were any, other than planting grinding stones for their women to have pleasure.

I am sure Tamilnadu people never going to except you people. So you have to live in the DREAM WORLD call PEElam.

Ethnic sympathizers who barked at the first page of replies to this news please read the the latest news India is going to give GOSL Short range anti air craft missiles.

It is from the other hand a splendid answer to Blood soaked ethnic, racial in-human Tamil MPs' shameful attempt to give orders to Indian Government.

Wick, so in other words, you agree that you are a dangerous creature. Is there anything wrong in Tamils treating creatures like you like they treat snakes which spit venom. Tamil race with its rich culture cannot be challenged by a frustrated soul like you. They have advanced much more than you . Which country does not have Tamils. And mind you they are not refugees in all the countries. You spit venom because you feel jealous of them. You can scream and call them names. Nothing will change. Do you know Microsoft is virtually controlled by Tamils. Instead of creating ulcer in your stomach, admire them, appreciate them and be proud that you too are living along with them. That will be the right spirit.
