AnuD :
Why did they CHOOSE Mannar as the important front ?
It was chosen by Colombo military planners.
1-Establishing a land route supply to Jaffna.
2-Capture poorneyan area so that LTTE can not launch Artilleries to Palai Airport.
3- To control Sea Tigers movement to TN.
This is what they say. |

Romania-Sweden OK -you have a point.
U NO HOO land is India- I'm really weary of this giant
(russia-Finland etc) - regional economic assosiations and eventually world government is the logical thing to do.
Still our region is not mature in any way for such a union.
You must be an expert in these to be cock sure about Burma
(as it is now) getting admitted to ASEAN!
Can you explain 'projection' pl?
In our short xchange you used pscho terms twice - you are a psychologist or some such thing? |

'No access' to Arbour in Jaffna
Residents say protesters were chased away by the military in Jaffna
Civilians affected by the escalated hostilities in the northern Sri Lankan peninsular were prevented from meeting a top UN rights official, Jaffna residents said.
UN Human Rights Commissioner Louise Arbour who is in Sri Lanka on a fact finding mission, visited Jaffna on Friday.
Hundreds of civilians affected by the rights violations have been gathered in front of Nallur Kovil and UNHCR office in Jaffna.
Protesters chased away
However the government security forces dispersed them preventing the High Commissioner meeting them, residents said.
Community leaders say they do not expect a progress despite Arbour visit
A letter addressed to Louise Arbour was collected by the officials but there was no guarantee that it will be handed over to the UN official, they added.
The Commissioner met Government Agent and representatives of certain voluntary organisations in Jaffna.
Jaffna Bishop Thomas Saudranayagam who met the UN official said she was of the opinion she could open a special UN office or investigate abuses occurred in Jaffna only if the government makes a formal request.
Jaffna residents said they expected no progress in human rights situation despite the Commissioner's visit.
Absolute Tyranny.

How come it is possible? Jaffna is under military rule and Arbour's one day trip is scheduled by the military itself. How possible for the people to have a proper meeting as they are to survive and live in that place with the military after the departure of that lady??
She paid only a day visit, but was able to have a meeting with the civil committee only for 30 mts. That means the meeting times were also restricted.
for the pictures..go to http://www.eelampage.com/?cn=33786.

can UN find anything realiable just spending 30 mints with civlinas. those meetings are complete jokes.
Arbour should stay in Jaffna at least 3 months. in the mean time she can visit Praba and the clan. then make her case to stay with LTTE saying that LTTE is the most innocent terrorists in the world and GoSL is always violating terrorits' rights.

Makaso,
If the SL Forces are not GUILTY, then what is the reason for stopping the Victims to meet the lady??
Tell me? Is it a good quality of highly pretigious security forces to treat the civilians at gum point?
JRJ,
There is one more reservation in your cabinet....Minister of women affairs. Appoint Nale the leader. |
