A remote control aircraft and helicopter of
LTTE captured
(LeN, 2007 Oct 11, 4.00 PM) Navy attacked a flotilla of boats of the LTTE that were transporting a remote controlled bombing aircraft and a helicopter today (11).
The Navy spokesperson Commander D.K.P. Dasanayaka said to Lanka-e-News that Navy attacked two LTTE boats killing four cadres in them and towed one boat to Thalaimannar.
Navy on surveillance observed two boats sailing five nautical miles west of Thalaimannar and follwed them. Navy retaliated when the boats fired at them. One boat half sank and the crew fell in sea. Commander Dasanayaka said that both boats were towed to Thalaimannar Navy camp later.
One aircraft captured from one of the boats were five and half feet long and one wing was six feet long. The remote controlled aircraft that can be used either for reconnaissance or bombing raids is to be inspected by Air Force experts, said the Navy Spokesman.
The two feet long helicopter is also remote controlled and can be used for sabotage, he said.
Four communication sets, 10 Global Positioning Systems, four satellite phones, computer parts, 45 antennae and 15 numbers 20 liter hydraulic oil cans were also captured from the Tiger boats, said Commander Dasanayaka.
