`Ira Mediyama` received the award for the best film in 2005 and `Udugamyaamaya` was the best film screened in 2006. Prasanna Vithanage and Sudath Devapriya, the Directors of the 02 films received awards for the best direction. Jackson Anthony was the best actor of the year 2005 and Dilhani Ekanayake was the best actress of that year. The best actor for 2006 was Sriyantha Mendis and Malini Fonseka the best actress. Pandith Amaradewa, Kalasoori Latha Walpola, Tissa Abeysekara, Malini Fonseka and Roy De Silva received the Golden Sinha awards from the President for their lifetime services to the cinema. Ministers Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Maithripala Sirisena and Jeewan Kumaratunge and Film Corporation Chairman Ashoka Serasinghe were present.

Jackson, Sriyantha are my all time favorites. I still enjoy 'Dandubasnamanaya' and 'Akala Sandhya' done by Jayantha Chandrasiri. Although I don't have any favorite actresses, Dilhani is one talented actress who can dance very well.
Malini no doubt she is the queen.
I wonder how rich they would be if they were born in the USA. The sad thing in Sri Lankan system, the artists are not recognized enough for their talents. That's Why Gunadasa Kapuge died; The airport taxi drivers wanted Rs. 2000 for the ride, they didn't care about his life.
One day I would like to see an award ceremony like SAG or Academy awards in Sri Lanka where artists give away awards to the others rather than stupid politicians.

Sriyantha Mendis and Jackson Anthony are the best actors I have seen in Sinhala Dramas. Its nice to see they make to Movies and win the prizes....
