Berty,
Good point on mobile and satellites. I have also been told similar thing when I was in SL. The terrorists are being also let loose by the supporters who take money and pave the way to kill innocent civilians, which is dastardly.

Turncoats are not a problem of MR. That?s the problem of RANIL and his poor leadership. Ranil is acting PIRABA?S character in south. Why I am saying like that is? When we compare LTTE and UNP we can understand.
PIRABA want only force greedy, nothing else. He killed his deputy leader MAHATHTHAYA, in past. Because he knows some day MAHATHTHAYA become thread for him, SELVA and SUSAI supported PIRABA to do that. Because they are expected interlocutory advantage from that, For example they become higher positions of LTTE, SELVA?S son has to chance to UK.
Then In recent past LTTE Eastern province leader KARUNA become thread for PIRABA, He called KARUNA to VANNI. But fortunately KARUNA understand PIRABA?S contraption and he survived.
So That PIRABA?S action to survive force,
Now we are considering UNP? UNP leader (joker) RANIL has a force greedy sick, Like LTTE there are several dupes to help RANIL. For example JONSTAN FRENANDO is one. He is third raw leader of UNP. But helping RANILS narrow force greedy he become KURUNEGALA DISTRICT LEADER by cut off GAMINI JAYAWICKRAMA PERERA. GAMINI JAYAWICKRAMA PERERA Is well establish political leader with huge experience and same time he become politics when JONNEY was as in kind?
RANIL has big thread from KARU, so he tried to VANISH KARU, That?s why he put to a side Karu.
Under thins situation UNP vanish in to peaces. 18 well establish MPs including KARU turncoats to MR.
This is good example to say LTTE and Current UNP both are in same boat.
Ranil is JR'S ne phew but nothing gnosis compare to JRJ |

Defence Lanka, 2/1/2007 5:27 GMT:
LTTE kills a social worker - Jaffna
Two unidentified gunmen suspected to be LTTE 'pistol gang' members assassinated President of Jaffna Multi Purpose Co-Operative Society (MPCS), S. T. Gananathan, around 7.30 this morning ( 1st February 2007). Bullet ridden body of the Victim was found lying close to the Pungampulam Junction along the Ariyalai -Colomputhurai road in Ariyalai by the police.
Mr. Gananathan, was the key activist in assisting the Security Forces to distribute the essential supplies to the Jaffna civilians through cooperative societies.
The LTTE terrorists after failing in their attempt capture Jaffna peninsula cut off the land route between North and South aiming at starving the civilians. Thereby the LTTE and their media allies attempted to win the sympathy of the international community with their propaganda campaigns.
However, the government made swift arrangements to send sufficient food stocks to North via sea, and took steps to distributed them among the civilians through cooperative shops. The civilian employees of the cooperative societies received death threats form the LTTE and it was only few who volunteered to assist the security forces in their humanitarian mission. Mr. Gananathan, was one of the prominent members who openly helped the security forces on their mission.
The civilian sources said that Mr. Gananathan had ignored the LTTE threats with the firm belief that the outfit would not kill a social worker like him.
Police investigations are in progress.

Jaffna MPCS President assassinated
President of the Jaffna Multi Pupose Co-Operative Society (MPCS) and an active social worker in the Jaffna Peninsula, S. T. Gananathan, 64, was shot dead near Mampalam junction Sri Lanka Army camp in Ariyalai, a suburb of Jaffna, around 6:30 a.m., Thursday.
Mr. Gananathan went to fetch water from a well close to house in Punkankulam, along A-9 highway, when he was assasinated by two unidentified armed men, sources in Jaffna said.
The incident occured about 200 metres from Mampalam junction SLA camp.
Gananathan is an retired engineer. He assumed duties as the president of the MPCS, Jaffna when former president of the Jaffna MPCS, Solomen Sri left Jaffna in Desember 2005 after receiving death threats.
In August 2006, Thellipalai MPCS president, Sivamagaraja was shot dead by unidentified persons.
Gananathan's daughter, Thayananthy, 19-years-old, was killed on 07 August 1996, when a SLA truck rammed into a group of school girls.
On the same date, her schoolmate, Krishanthy Kumarasamy, was gang raped and killed by the SLA troopers, and her family members who went searching for their daughter were massacred.
Gananathan was one of the activists who worked for exposing Krishanthy's case.
