Sri Lanka's newly inducted 53-member cabinet has put off its first meeting for want of a venue and other logistical problems, press reports here said.
The delay came as Sri Lanka's party of Buddhist monks announced they were also joining the government, a move that would further increase the massive cabinet.
President Mahinda Rajapakse swore in the largest cabinet in Sri Lanka's history on Sunday and also appointed another 33 ministers with non-cabinet rank and 19 deputy ministers.
What do they need to meet for anyway?! |

JHU nominee Ananthasangaree is speaking for himself or Sinhala Buddhism?
Ananthasangaree is the only member of TULF and he represents himself. Tamils rejected him in the last general election, why?
He would have been better off had he accepted the JHU offer of nomination as their national list MP. Instead of Patali he would have been appointed as the 105th minister of this Government. Edited By - Sintamus - 1 Feb 2007 09:38:17 GMT |

Eelamaya,
What are you talking here? Are you telling MR to continue Vakarai like bombing of civilians, disregard the sick and old, starve poor until they leave to look for food....?
How are you buddy?
As I have stood everyday. I am still in that stand point. What we want is a free space to all the civilians in the NE. Its clear how the genuine poor civilian got relaxed following the Vakarai victory.
We have also seen how the LTTE did dirty on the innocent civilians by building bunkers on dry rations, medicines etc. The world had at least seen a glimpse of tiger terrorism if not or obstructed before. Its careful game of cat and mouse. Civilans must be protected in the meantime demolishing any harmful facts that comes along that way.
I am not for war as I have said again and again. What matters is prevailing sanity; which means the innocent civilains no matter whether they are tamils, sinhalese or muslims, they should be treated fairly. Blocking the aid/food they receive and claiming there is nothing in receipt in those areas is blatant violation of humanity.
The political solution is required subsequent to bringing sanity to those areas.
I am of the view that we are heading in that direction, but work half done is as good as work nothing done/achieved. What is achieved is not good if that is not fully fledged and passed the goodness to the ordinary people. After all everyone of our country has the right to live in parity, Not one party who are of the view of desrupting the normalcy.
Let peace be the almighty word of practicality of those who suffer the most! Have a good day buddy!

In the island's restive east, police arrested 58 people, including undergraduates and teachers, following Wednesday's mine attack which killed 11 people -- six policemen, four soldiers and a civilian.
Are 58 people needed to ignite a mine? |

JRJ:
but work half done is as good as work nothing done/achieved.
You say you da not want war! but, your 'work half done' sounds like you advising MR to go for Vanni as well?
In fact the country may need a great war at this time to decide the fate of Tamils! Without a big war, it seems MR is not willing to give any solution to the Tamil sufferings! |
