Dear all,

I have to say the word 'peace' is directly proportional to the word of number of millions or billions of dollars or ruppees that the government receive in as aid. This is what the ordinary citizen of mother Lanka cannot/don't fathom. We have come a long way in search of the elusive 'peace' and what have we achived? Nothing but words and suggestions.

President Mahinda,
Let me categorically explain you that you were elevated to the presidency to eradicate a socio-economic factors, not to smear nice words on people to deceive them in the name of peace by offering perks to wild bulls. What you are currently doing is procrastinating what Ranil was going to do which we all know. You are talking about peace when there is no thriving for peace by a pack of 'wild horny bulls'. It's shameful that you still use this word 'peace'. Cut the 'Bull Cr*%' and get the working sorted out like those that achieved via Vakarai fight.

Peace is not something that wild bulls comprehend. Its a sacred word that even Lord Buddha, Jesus Christ used to bring upon among the common folks. Peace is not for 'Wild Bulls' I reiterate on this great Navam Poya day.

What we need is continue to get rid of wild bulls like in Vakarai subsequently establishing the genuine peace via politics in an established democratic manner. Mere peace via white tigers is not going to work, at least try to comprehend not to milk tiger cubs where you end up sacrificing your own life.

What are you talking here? Are you telling MR to continue Vakarai like bombing of civilians, disregard the sick and old, starve poor until they leave to look for food....?

(LeN- 2007 Jan. 31, 8.00 pm) It is being reported that the Minister of Human Rights and Disaster Management Mahinda Samarasinghe has told the president yesterday morning that he will resign from his posts. The minister had told this when the President called him to wish him for his birthday, which fell yesterday.

What Samarasinghe said is correct. Because, without human rights, how can a ministry be created? How can he be a minister for a Virtual ministry?

Jayasikuru,
Thanks for the reply.
I agree with most of your points.
I also feel however that this forum goes a certain way in promoting understanding between the people with differing opinions.
True, there is a lot of ranting and raving and making fun and trading insults.
But its also interesting to observe the moment someone takes a step to say 'okay I undestand how you would feel strongly about this given what you have experienced..well, here is how its for me...'.
It is very nice to see how both former ranters calm down and actually have a civilized conversation.
I am sure you also have seen that many a time in this forum

Achilles,

Buddy! great to see you guys doing the work of building up a valuable opinion. What we lack in Sri Lanka is good opinon leaders of your calibre.

I am doing fine buddy except for some domestic issues which we all have time and time again.
I saw your own space and have read them. Good ones buddy. I'll have a look at them profusely when I get more time.

Sri Lanka recruits more soldiers

The Sri Lankan military said Wednesday that it has had very encouraging response to its latest recruitment drive to take more soldiers to fight against Tamil Tiger rebels.
'We have recruited around 2,000 in the campaign began on Jan. 29,' said the military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe.

Great, now the government and the people are stuck with another 2000 to pay and feed for the rest of their years in service. But maybe paying and feeding them is better than paying the 102 crooks in the cabinet.
