You did not understand what I said or perhaps,you don't have the capacity to understand what was said.Because of people like you only-Karl Marx said 'Religion is the opium of the people.'
The criticism is not about the relgion but the so-called followers of that religion and particulaly the priests,who are suppose to uphold the principles of the religion but failed to do so.

Many people becuse of ignorance classify Buddhism as religion.
Even the word buddhism is a western word, as is the words Hindu and the Hinduism.
In Sri Lanka, we are used to identify it as 'Religion and dhamma' or 'agama saha dharmaya'.
HInduism is a religion but not Buddhism.
Besides, KArl-MArx talked with respect to Christianity. I don't think, he meant Buddhism too.

Yes! I loathe the anti-buddhist priests but I respect the true buddhists priests,there are thousands of them, in the island but not the JHU thaddayas,whom I dont consider them as buddhists,let alone buddhist priests.

Champika was never a JVP member, he agitated for student rights and was vehemently against foreign interference in sri lanka.
All he wanted to do was to make sure we developed as a nation
His vision is that if the tamils in the north benefited from same facilities enjoyed by colombo then they would not have a reason to separate.
I remember him getting beat up by JVPers b/c he tore down their posters at Peradeniya back in 1987.

Kar Marx did not say CHIRSTIANITY is the opium of the people but said RELIGION is the opium of the people.
If buddhism is not a religion why do you call your pariah state a buddhist country and make Buddhism as the state religion in the constitution.
