UNP crossover is a bitter sweet thing.

It is bitter because the objective of the crossover was for personal gain and not the country.

Sweet because JVP and most hardliners got royally scre ed.

Thats why I always say that SL has a kangaroo legal system. What do you expect when lawyers don't know the meaning of ethics. Judges get ---- jobs from lawyers in public place. The court does not decide based on evidence provided but to the wish of the government.

A police state is not when the police take over the state but when politicians take over the police but in SL they have taken two steps further and taken over all forces and the Justice system.

I just browsed ThinKing's Page and found a link to 'Emergency 58' by Tarzie Vittachi and I copied the following quote which gives of a glimse of the honest intellectual SWRD.
?In the discussion which the leaders of the Federal Party had with me an honourable solution was reached. In thinking over this problem I had in mind the fact that I am not merely a Prime Minister but a Buddhist Prime Minister. And my Buddhism is not of the 'label' variety. I embraced Buddhism because I was intellectually convinced of its worth. At this juncture I said to myself: ?Buddhism means so much to me, let me be dictated to only by the tenets of my faith, in these discussions. I am happy to say a solution was immediately forthcoming.? (Sunday Observer, March 2, 1958.)

But the oftener he defended the B-C Pact the clearer it became that, in the Prime Minister?s own opinion, it needed defending. The longer he delayed its implementation with the twin instruments of the Regional Councils Act and the Reasonable Use of Tamil Act, the weaker became the enthusiasm of the Sinhalese as well as of the Tamils.

What sort of Buddhism people like AnuD, Upalj, Stopterro, and others honestly follow, a 'label' variety?

Some Cabinet Ministers are resigning, Ananthasangaree is rejoicing

Mr Ananthasangaree is getting ready for his second chance of being nominated as the national list MP of the Sinhala Ultra National ALL Monks Party in case Patali Champika Ranawaka resigns. First he refused JHU's offer of nomination expecting an appointment from CBK/MR as the Foreign Minister. The GoSL expected him to be contended with that USD 100,000, from UN body, but, power in Sri Lanka has no upper bounds.

All the Tamils wish him good luck with his anticipated nomination as the JHU's national list MP. This will place him in the appropriate job that he deserves.

This fool, as soon as he became a minister went and worshiped a tree. Offered some milk and food to a tree. How can this man, who cannot understand that a tree cannot drink milk or take food, work as the minister of environment.

Someone said even Buddha worshipped the boo-tree, this poor fellow is only following his master.
