Revy: this wont be solved by talking anymore.

we need to fight a war to the bitter end. all out with mass killing and from the ashes let us follow the leader, i dont care who but i will follow if i am not dead.

but the solution is a bitter fight with mass mobilization.

That we can agree on.

As for UDI, he needs to gain at least Trinco and Jaffna before that AND be ready to defend the new nation.

Revy, can LTTE win this war?

If by the war you mean the ultimate goal which is autonomy for the Tamil people, yes.

Franky we have no other choice either we 'win' or we are doomed.

Revy, Interesting answer, no surprise there.

'ready to defend the new nation' Good point there. The question is can they. Re-take of Jaffna is possible. But Trinco is a different story after the fall of Sampoor.

MELBOURNE'S Shanaka Fernando was named Australia's Local Hero for his work founding not-for-profit restaurant chain Lentil as Anything.

The group of four restaurants, which employs about 80 young people and provides space for artists and writers, does not set prices for dishes.

Instead, diners are encouraged to pay what they can afford or what they think the meal was worth.

Mr Fernando sunk his personal capital into the first restaurant and turned it into a co-operative and youth training enterprise. Lentil as Anything has shown that it is possible for a business to be run on a socially responsible, idealistic basis and still be financially successful and popular.

The 38-year-old restaurateur, who was born in Sri Lanka and arrived in Australia in 1989, said the award meant a great deal to him.

'Hopefully it means the nature of what is happening through our organisation is important and will spill out to the greater society.

'I hope this award will inspire other migrants and anyone in the community who may have ideas that might not seem normal and which have no prior format to go ahead and try these ideas and follow your heart.'

And on the eve of Australia Day, Mr Fernando said he thought to be Australian was to be 'welcoming of others ? to be encouraging of each other'.

Autonomy for the Tamils can also be achieved from negotiations or either through a political settlement (not a easy task but certainly achievable). Another point is we don't know yet whether Prabarkaren is really interested in autonomy for the Tamil people or just for himself.

Tiger sympathisers,

Instead of telling a legitimate govt to stop their defensive and offensive actions against a ruthless, autocratic terror outfit why don't you say the same thing to illegitimate, murderous LTTE?

I know the fact mates... if they come to know what you do (may be from your tamil friend who can be a LTTE spy), all your loved ones back in SL will be in trouble. Who knows... You may not even hv a stand in your canadian society where the LTTE has been deep rooted.

You are deprived of that democratic right guys... We hv the guts to criticize even our own govt.... but you are damn scared of this vanni terror group as they use 'Bullet' to inquire public openion, not 'Ballet'.

So sorry about the plight you're in.... Get your liberation song played until ARMY is able to massacre the LTTE and liberate tamils in N/E.... Just can't believe things that ppl are convinced/brain washed to hv trust upon in fear of life.

Sinhala Supremacists who Support Sinhala Chauvinism.

Little Singapore Vs Bigger Sri Lanka

Singapore got independence in 1957 as a province of Malaysia. Got separated in 1965 because the latter did not want the dominant Chinese to be a part of Malaysia. Singapore PM Lee Kuan Jew said he must learn from Sri Lankan experience of discord among her communities and enacted 4 languages as official including Tamil though it was spoken by less than 6% of the population. These Tamils were brounght in by British during 19/20th centurylike the estate Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka got independence in 1948 and when Singapore PM visited and saw the richness and vowed to develop his country as prosperous as SL. Sri Lanka disenfranchised estate workers in 1949, ethnic cleansing by settling Sinhala peasants in the Dry Zone inhabited by Tamil speaking Muslims and Tamils in NE, converting the population in the East, for example, from 6% Sinhalese to 32%. As a last measure to alianate minorities SL enacted Sinhala Only as the official language and its elitist leaders unilaterally abrogated all the agreements they signed with minority leaders, used violence (anti-Tamil riots and military) to suppress the minorities and plunged the country in an armed conflict.

Singapore had a visionary leader whereas SL petty minded power hungry elitists as leaders. S'pore is the richest in Sounth Asia or even Asia except mighty Japan but SL is the poorest in the world with house maids abroad and begging bowls.
