COLOMBO, SinhalaNet 2007.01.25 04:18PM Members of the Sangha and laymen, in large numbers, attended an 'Adhistana Pooja' (determination), at the Sri Dalada Maligawa on Wednesday (25) late afternoon, to mark the LTTE bomb attack on the world's most venerated shrine, the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
A Special religious ceremony held at Maha Maluwa , at Sri Dhalada Maligawa.
The event was organised by the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU).
After the religious event a public meeting held at Gorge E.De Silva Park. JHU MP Ven. Udawatte Nanda Thero told the gathering that the LTTE failed in its attempt to cause total destruction to the shrine and the most venerated object, the Sacred Tooth Relic. Likewise, the LTTE would not be able harm the race however much it used terrorist force, he said.
'As long as the land and the people receive the blessings of the Tooth Relic, neither the LTTE nor any other disastrous force could succeed in their attempts to annihilate the race and the religion, he added.
Ven.Aluthgama Dhammananda Chief monk of the Malwathu Maha Viharaya, Ven.Omalpe Sobitha Thero, the General Secretary of the JHU, Ven.Ellawala Medhanandha Thero, the Leader of the JHU, Ven.Athuraliye Rathana Thero, the National Organizer of the JHU, Pathali Champika Ranawaka , the JHU Policy Adviser were also addressed the gathering. H.M.G.B Kotakedeniya, the defence adviser to the President and the Central Committee member of the JHU, Ven.Missaka Kamalasiri Thero, Ven.Dutuwewa Lankananda thero Thurasha Saranatilake, Kandy district JHU organizer were present at the meeting.
