??..On May 18, 2006, almost after a month from the day the king revived the House of Representatives dissolved on May 22, 2006, the revived House of Representatives made Declaration effectively ending the 237-year old Shah Dynasty??.

???.Though failing to keep its date with history on Monday, the Girija Prasad Koirala government carried out the people`s demands faithfully on Thursday afternoon, tabling a historic proposal in parliament to cut the king`s powers drastically, snap all his links with the army, his source of strength, and turn Nepal, the world`s only Hindu kingdom, into a secular state. ??..Amidst thunderous applause, Nepal`s newly reinstated House of Representatives unanimously approved all the measures with no dissent from royalist parties and the handful of royalist ministers present in parliament as lawmakers........
