Government has a bigger responsibility now to bring about fast normalcy to this area. Karuna shouldnt be allowed to create havoc. Liberate the rest of the east and hold an election. In the meantime, propose the political solution without further delay so that East can lead the nation with the power devolution. Let civilian administation take foothold in east without tribal and caste warlords.
I can't believe that they let LTTE terrorists escape from Vaharai. They survived to fight another day at another place. |

Sri Lanka forces don't want to defeat Tamil people or they don't do a war against the Tamils.
What SL forces and Sri Lankans wanted is to defeat LTTE and give freadom to all Sri Lankans including tamils, Sinhala, Muslim etc.
Political Solution will come after LTTE defeat or disarms

Govt should try to recruit tamil youths into the forces and police and station them in the east. This is the hightime for that.
Also, they should publish any military facilities used by LTTE around the hospital including arti and motar launching pits, bunkers etc. Inverview people who were forced to give blood. Launch a major anti-LTTE propaganda campaign on media other than defence ministry website. Take international journalists and show the area, have them interview IDP's etc rightaway before the bad memories fade away.
