Damayanthi, Singhalese have invented the state sponsored colonialism to dilute the minorities in their areas and change the demographic nature. This type of unique ethnic cleansing was introduced to the world by the Singhalese, long before Bosnia and Milosevic.
Singhalese are the pioneer of racial riots in the British dominion, long before the African Hutus. The Singhalese started to kill the minorities in racial riots from 1920's and they first started with Muslims. The Indians are too much of democrats, they never tried the Singhala style of etnnic cleansing - the state sponsored colonialism in Kashmir.
If they have done that, then they would have populated the Mulism majority Kashmir with Hindus. But, Instead of colonizing Kashmir with Hindus, they gave a special status to the state of Kashmir.
Thesavalami laws are not in effect after the independence, still if you can afford, then you can buy properties in Jaffna. If we are going to sell it to the Singhala racists, that is a different story.

Thesavalamai is defined here, that is, no one can give away property/land that he/she has not bought himself. The restriction is in the property inherited by people and not those properties people bought out of their earned income. This does not prevent anyone Sinhalese or Muslim from BUYING a land but getting as a donation or as a gift.
'Thesavalamai' is the traditional law of the Sri Lankan Tamil inhabitants Jaffna peninsula, codified by the Dutch during their colonial rule in 1707. The Law in its present form applies to most Tamils in northern Sri Lanka.The law is personal in nature thus it applicable mostly for property and marriage. 1
Under the this law, not all property could be given away. A person could give away only the tetiatettam, i.e. property acquired by either husband during the period after married life and or the priests acquiring from such properties. Even of the tetiatettam property, the husband cannot alienate the whole property; the wife is entitled to half of it. Those properties inherited from the parents cannot be given away according to ones own wish. There are also cases of old ladies who do not have any children gifting their properties to the temple.
Currently in the putative state of Tamil Eelam, the rebel group LTTE uses laws based on Thesavalamai in its nascent judicial system. As such Thesavalami now applies throughout the Northeast of Sri Lanka which are under the military control of this organisation.

TamilNadu tamil struggle is older than the Indian freedom fihgt from the Colonial powers, and older than India. Even when Colonnial Powers came to India they knew what was going on.
Some how, TamilNadu won considerable powers from India in 1964.
But, even today, TamilCountry (TamilNadu) is using Caste, Ethnicism and racism to win votes.
Sri Lankan tamils, not all, wants the same situation here. They want to be tamils and use any one below them caste-wise.
I think, we as buddhist should forget the human equality.
Instead, We should gang up with other tamils let this low caste tamils to be used.
Becasue LTTE is mostly low caste. |

The Muslims are part and parcel of Tamil Eelam and no Tamil will question that. They are our linguistic brethren and only the selfish Muslim leaders runined the harmony between Tamils and Tamil Muslims, which excisted for many centuries. |
