Sure Indians were a majority in India..
We also cannot compare their fight with our fight, it's a bit different, but the common point is that the two fights are for Independence.
But if you take the case of Martin Luther King and his struggle for the Black people's right that is comparable to the fight of Tamil people in Sri lanka.
He won being a big minority. |

The situation in sri lanka can be more appropriately compared to sout aftica during apartheid
mandella had to resort to armed struggle because no one was intersted in the rights of blacks. the world condemned him for being a terrorist, and proscribed the ANC (african national congress). he was detained in robben island for 30 years, until an honourable white president F W de klerk gave rights to blacks, released mandella, and eventually the whites in south africa realised the truth and what would be honourable peace for the blacks. the world also accepted this, as until this even britain supported apartheid as the british PM said it is unnacceptable that ANC can come to power
likewise the situation in sri lanka is that sinhalas think is is normal or fun to kill tamils, and they may think this for another 30 years until an honourable sinhala leader comes to power and change the opinion of the sinhala masses that tamils are not inferior to sinhalas

I think you are out of your mind to compare the Sinhalese with the Americans. The majority Americans are generous and peace-loving people. The Sri Lankan Tamils have produced great leaders who did yeomen service to the Sinhalese and Sinhala language but the Sinhalese have pathetically failed to make one single Sinhala leader who genuinely cared about the Tamils. I think you are trying to forget the deep rooted Sinhala racist hatred against the Tamils.
I find it's very offensive that you compare the American black's civil right movement to the Eelam Tamil's struggle to restore the statehood they lost to the colonizers old and new. American blacks were brought to the US by force as slaves, we Tamils are children of Sri Lanka, we are here right from the beginning. Our ancestors fought to defend their land from the Sinhala aggressors from the dawn of history.

confirming that the rights of the Tamil civilians are violated not by the Sinhalas but by the Tamil terrorists, with the collusion of the government as a signatory of the MOU.
Raving Crumb, what happened from 1948 to 1976, there was no LTTE? Who were these Tamil terrorists then?? Were they disguised as Sinhala barbarians? must have been eh? |

You are right on certain point.
Are you living in America ?
Do not forget that Luther's fight was done in an another atmosphere than the today melting potted America..
And i also know that Americans who brought the Africans as slaves and who eradicated the Indians of America of the Earth very strongly racists.
Black people fought for their rights, it was not a simple affair. |
