Air Force jets continued to bomb identified LTTE targets for the third consecutive day, yesterday, while latest violence in the north and east claimed the lives of two soldiers and an LTTE cadre, the military said.
A senior military official said an air strike by Air Force Kfir jets targeted an LTTE Sea Tiger base in Alampil around 7.15 a.m. yesterday. According to the Air Force the Sea Tiger base was completely destroyed, the official said.
He said this Sea Tiger base was under constant surveillance by the Air Force for a long period. `Tigers have carried out several attacks against the Sri Lanka Navy from this base,` he said.
Since January 1, the Air Force conducted air raids on identified LTTE targets in Mannar, Vakarai, Verugal and Mullaitivu, where Sea Tiger bases, artillery positions and weapons sites were located.
The LTTE has accused the Government of killing civilians in Mannar, where the Air Force conducted air raids on Tuesday.
Hours after the air raids, troops on foot patrol were targeted by the LTTE at Pirappanmaduwa in Vavuniya by detonating a claymore mine. A soldier was killed and two were injured when a claymore mine was detonated allegedly by the Tigers.
In another development at Kalyanapura in Anuradhapura, suspected LTTE cadres launched an attack on a military point yesterday morning compelling the Army to retaliate. A soldier was killed in the attack. The body of an LTTE cadre with a weapon lying by his side was found, the military said.
Meanwhile, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said yesterday the LTTE lost about 25 percent of its total strength in recent battles with the military and was now facing a severe recruitment problem .

During the last year alone, the Tigers reportedly lost 2108 cadres and a higher number were injured, due to heavy losses they sustained in Mavil Aru, Muhamalai, Thoppur, Sampur, Mutur jetty, and Vakarai battles, the MCNS said.
It said the main reason for the poor recruitment of cadres was the breakaway of the renegade Karuna faction. `The Eastern province, the Tiger resource pool is now closed,` the MCNS said.
After the signing of the Ceasefire Agreement in 2002, records indicated a total of 546 LTTE cadres surrendered to the military, it said.

Tamil Terrorist Leader prabakaran must be captured or killed to stop the civilian deaths in Sri Lanka
Terrorists have been killing and destroying civilian life in the northern part of the island for over 30 years now.
No democratic government will ever be able to fight terrorism unless the International Community and the UN strongly support the governments. Edited By - Kusum - 5 Jan 2007 03:19:43 GMT |

wow, another completely destroyed! way to go as far as propaganda is concerned!
By the way, why SLAF are so concerned about the LTTE dingies as they sarcastically used to call as they are 'harmless' compared to 'mighty' SLN? lolz |

Unbelievable! ... the alleged number of Sea Tiger bases that is :-)
That is because the terrorists always mingle with the innocent civilian population and attack from behind. That is the first lesson they learn when they are trained.
The Sea Tiger Terrorists do not have large bases, instead what they have is a cluster of small bases hidden in every fishing villege.
I hope the reader use common sense when listening to news coming from the terrorists. |

I imagine myself as a typical southerner.. hmmm... That statement realy makes me feel good, even though I have heard something like as high as 95% of LTTErs had gone before. I forgot those. This is new.

Oligophren99,
Oligophren99
coolies have their 'recessive filth gene' manifest at the slightest hint of defeat!
Raves started the thing just before he received the knockout, now you see you are the perfect goat to scarifies in any situation, ran directly in to the troubled zone even without knowing it, I really have my doubts of your abilities to think.
Now at least do you understand why I call you Oligophren?
