Whatreallyhap,

the ICRC and other ONG's all confirm the bomb hit civilian target.

I'm still waiting for your links!!

Meanwhile ICRC just released an statement on Sri Lanka.

http://www.icrc.org/web/eng/siteeng0.nsf/htmlall/sri-lanka-news-090107

9-01-2007 Press Release 07 / 001
Sri Lanka: Civilians bearing brunt of conflict
Geneva/Colombo (ICRC) ? The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) deplores the recent death and injury to civilians caused by two attacks on civilian buses in Galle and Gampaha districts.

Eighteen persons were killed and some 50 injured in explosions on buses south of Colombo on 5 and 6 January.

The ICRC is deeply concerned about the rising number of civilians being injured or killed in Sri Lanka's escalating violence. Men, women and children taking no part whatever in the hostilities have endured acute suffering in recent months from shells and bombs.

The ICRC urgently appeals to all parties to the conflict to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and thus ensure that the civilian population and civilian objects are respected and protected at all times. This law prohibits attacks against civilians and civilian objects in all circumstances.

Meanwhile, in the Vakarai area on the island's east coast, some 15,000 displaced people and residents are trapped in a conflict zone with hardly any food, medicine or clean water.

The ICRC is closely monitoring the situation. It stands ready to do whatever possible to protect and assist people not, or no longer, taking direct part in the hostilities, by providing them with health care, shelter and other vital necessities.

I don't know why they wouldn't mention Mannar incident if they visited the site!

Why were the injured taken far away to Kilinochchi, a
hospital that did not even have a nitro lingual spray for
Daya Master and he had to be rushed to Colombo. Very close
to the area that was bombed there is a well equipped Civil
Hospital in Mannar and also in Vavuniya.

R K... Paper qualifications and practical know-how debate can't be compared with parayakaran and Gosl leaders.
The issue was never about ability and knowledge from ltte side. they terrorised by the barrel and bombs. How the hell can you take this as an ability.
A druggee on the road armed with knife can knockout an educated man walking on the road... probable stabbing from behind. According to your logic...the druggee is more superior.

'A druggee on the road armed with knife can knockout an educated man walking on the road... probable stabbing from behind. According to your logic...the druggee is more superior'.

Either you have a little knowledge about the conflict or you are on drugs yourself. The tamil conflict cannot be compared to the 'gruggee' on the road. In the north and east, SLA and LTTE have fought many battles, each side won and lost. In these battles LTTE overran a number of camps which were manned by over 1000 personnel. Those camps which fell like pins at the onslaugt of LTTE were captured by LTTE together with arms and amunitions. Before 2002-2004 CFA, it was those arms and anunitions that LTTe used to fight the SLA. Actually, they were killing SLA with the same arms they captured from the SLA. That was true. Ranil said that many times. In military strategy, LTTE has been much smater than all our forces and leaders put togather.

Secondly, the conflict has a long history, it is not just someone takes a knife and stab another who is not anticipating that. According to CBk, MR, the conflict and LTEE and VP are the results of state failures to address the tamil grevences.

ThinKing - i am interested to know whether anyone produced any evidence of the ICRC reports from visiting Mannar site?

Or was this some more creative licence from that bastion of accurate news reporting i.e. Trumpetnet?
