Any person possessing or issuing ID cards other than the National Identity Card issued by the Department of Registration of Persons is illegal and will be severely dealt with by the Government under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the Registration of Persons Act No. 32 of 1968, the release said.
This is a piece of some confusing news. Anyone can have any ID card as long they do not duplicate or make IDs similar to that of national IDs. Just consider LTTE IDs as member IDs of LTTE. What's the big deal? |
