Rishi:
Not only poor Sinhalese but Tamils outside Jaffna secured a seat
First you have to ask the question why students outside larger cities don't have the ability to compete on a equal footing? Because they are not properly equipped or staffed? Whose fault was that? Parents, students or GOVERNMENT. Do you correct the situation by bringing the rural standards up or university entrance standards down? By not picking the best students you are bringing the standards down.
Its a proportionate system
Proportional systems are not fair when the populations are not equal. As the concentration of Tamils were in limited area's this was not fair at all.
Please do not talk about Lawyers. There is a open aptitude entrance test
True there is a aptitude test, but there is also a oral interview that is subjective. For the first time a Tamil student challenged this as he passed the aptitude test and was failed in the interview and won in court a couple of months ago. |
