Aerial attack on Padahuthurai, a crime against humanity - Bishop

The Bishop of Mannar Diocese, Rt Rev Rayappu Joseph, who visited Padahuthurai hamlet, which was completely destroyed by indiscriminate aerial bombardment by the Sri Lanka Air Force Tuesday morning, has condemned the bombardment and said the attack had destroyed the settlement of the Internally Displaced persons. There was no military installation of the LTTE in the area, the Bishop told media. The Bishop, calling the bombardment `a crime against humanity,` urged the International Community to send independent observers to NorthEast. Death toll has risen to 15, including 7 children below age nine , a pregnant woman, her child and husband.
13 victims of the bombardment were identified Tuesday night: Anthonipillai Rasakumari, 52, a mother, Anthonipillai Kutti, 26, Anthonipillai Velastin, 30, a mother and her husband Kugan, their 2-years-old son Dayalan, 4-years-old daughter Dayalini, and 1-year-old baby boy of their relative, I. Madusan, V. Tharsini, 8, Jhomson, 9, Vinosan, 6, Uthayakumar, 55, V. Vijitha, 28, and Kili, 32.
The Bishop condemned the Sri Lankan military for telling a `barefaced lie,` that the airstrike had hit a LTTE military installation.

Wonder what Mr.Rayappu has to say about LTTE attrocities? Aren't they not crimes against humanity according to this white robed Tiger?
CTO Bomb, Elephant House Bomb, Nayaru Kokilai Massacres, Aranthalawa Massacre, Valachchanai Massacre, Sri MahaBodhi Massacre, Dehiwela Train Bomb, Pettah Bomb, Maradana Bombs, Eye Hospital Bomb, Torrington Bomb, Slave Island Bombs, JOC Bomb, Galadhari Bomb, Central Bank Bomb, Kebiththigollewa Massacre etc etc Mr.Rayappu what do you call those?

Hang the Bishop only then the criminals will be satsfied, when ever a religious head comes out with the truth the sinhala racists brand him as a tiger etc. The same Bishop has condemned the tigers many times. Wait you will be facing the fire pretty soon.

What is Bishop telling is lie- what is coming from the month of Thero's is very much true..
What is the Bishops doing is child molesting-What is the thero's doing is child kissing..
What a shame to kill pregnant women-What is the name of this in the Democratic world? Mercy killings..

Has not the LTTE committed crimes against humanity? Give a 'Yes' or 'No' answer.
I do not for a moment deny that there are excesses by the forces. But has this Rayappu Joseph ever spoken against the attrocities committed by the LTTE? Why the double standards? Isn't it because he himself condones the crimes the LTTE does but sees the similar crimes committed by the forces as crimes against humanity?
I admit that the Tamils were discriminated by the sinhalese with the Sinhala only Act in 1956, requesting Tamil Public Servents to sit a Sinhala language exam to continue in work, standardisation at entry into universities, riots, killings etc etc.
I also see that the Tamils had no way out except to take up guns in order to make the Sinhala leaders sit up and realise the grievences of the Tamils. But once the Sinhala leaders were ready to make amends and talk, it was upto the LTTE to settle for a compromise in the form of at least devolution of power and stop the attrocities.
Unfortunately there was no reciprocity by the LTTE in all the instances. The LTTE never budged from their demand for a separate state. Even with the latest round of talks it was manifestly clear even before the LTTE sat down for talks that the LTTE was hell bent on walking away sighting lame excuses. It is clear that the LTTE is looking at a military solution causing immense hardship to people in Sri Lanka. In an environment of war innocents too die and the LTTE knows that well and those innocents who die are Sri Lankans, not Tamils, Muslims or Sinhalese.

An aerial attack on Rayappu Joseph would have been a crime against humanity BUT NOT against a terrorist base at Padahathurai.....

Rayappu, are you trying christianisation of the Tamil Nadu population by supporting the Wanni Tigers for the Vatican?
This is an important mile stone as Islamanization is overridding the Christianization as Velupillai & the tiger boys are lagging or held up.........
Its time Rayappu tried to pump or prop them up.
Rayappu, do less talking and pray more to avoid crime against humanity committed by the LTTE & not by aerial bombing.
Change camps Rayappu and start worshipping an earthly Wanni god. You are just another timeserver. |

Don't give all the good Christians like us a bad name by being a mouth piece of the terrorists that is kidnapping school kids for terror,even being international pirates.You should not be the mouth piece of any party to this dreadful conflict.If you are so concerned then bring your flock to areas that is free from this conflict.You religious leaders should not put your fingers and noses where it is not appropriate and you see this in Iraq,where the religion is the reason for sectarian violence.

Politicians shouldnt seek advice from the Mahanayakes, Bishops, Swamis & the Muslim Clergys.
In fact they shouldnt enter into politics, Though i am a Muslim i hate to see political parties that are formed based on ethnicity. Such as Muslim Congress they create more problems than good which they intend to do,Our country is better off by having 3 parties such as UNP & SLFP and a Liberal Party.
In this regard i dont wanna to comment specifically as my good christian brothers have spoken correctly regarding the Bishops remarks.

I appeal to a good Muslim like you to not to allow your great faith to be divided on sectarian basis,as it could be seen the consequences in Iraq.The main culprits are the wicked clergy,thus influencing the horrible uncivilized scene at the execution of the tyrant Saddam.He was duly convicted for his horrible crimes by the civilized world but the final moment of this man in this world was violated by a sectarian mob with chants that was very unacceptable and looked revengeful.Administration of law for Even for a dreadful crime can't be revenge.When he was in the US custody,only a few minutes before his end,he enjoyed the values of the civilized world of USA,where almost every Arab would like to be,ie USA.But soon he was out of their controls,the usual religiously fanatical mob rule of the sad middle east took over.This is a reminder to all of us,how dangerously we live in this world,should these idiots acquire nuclear weapons,and the reason for 3000 US young to have been sacrificed. |
