Three military officers to face court-martial for allegedly aiding rebels

Three Sri Lankan military officers have been taken into custody and will face a court-martial for helping separatist Tamil Tiger rebels, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe, the military spokesman, said the officers - two majors and a captain - will stand trial for allegedly passing information to Tamil rebels on the movements of government and military officials and potential targets in the capital, Colombo.
A probe by the Criminal Investigation Department against one major has been completed and the officer could face a military court at any time, he said. The other two are still being investigated, Samarasinghe said.

| These Officers are part of the social fabric created by our past and present leaders,since Independence,where we have lost all our moral values,where monetary awards for doing anything,if it is immoral or not does not matter any more.They are no more treacherous than our leaders in the past,who have profited out of this poor country,one way other,ie during the war or peace,which they have starched away money in other countries,while our young are giving up their lives in the defense of the island.Not only these officers,but others who have acted in a non patriotic way,robbing the assets of the state,as they are equally treacherous and corrupt as these officers. |
