Eelamaya,

the problem is GOSL will, if they ever offer, a federal system would want to still keep the security in GOSL hand... that would be the main problem for Tamils....

A very good morning to you bro. Yes, you are right this is a fundamental issue that needs more attention. I believe through credibility everything takes precedence. Likewise only genuine efforts to solve the question will lead to success not riff-raff. After all I believe LTTE should be merged within the SLA or security as a part of federalism. Through that we can deploy those merged LTTE cadres to the tamil areas and that is something has to be done via mutual consent not by force.

As for security you are right in saying that the GOSL has no good reputation even to protect majority Sinhalese. I remember during the JVP troubles in the 80s some thugs came & took away Sinhalese kids in the name of JVP but to be honest those kids were innocent. Creating that kind of an atmosphere is not going to help any community.

Minister Ranjan Wijeratne took tough stance on JVP and gave absolute powers to SLA to crush the JVP which they did but lot of innocent kids had to sacrifice in the mean time.

All this tantamounts to the scepticity of the Government security stance. Unless there is a credible merging effort of the LTTE and other tamil armed cadres within a democratic frame work subsequent to Federal set up being established I cannot see how we are going to solve the burning issue. Otherwise we'll be back to square one.

Musketeer
1. No smuggling weapons during talks
2. A specific time frame to enter and discuss
3. No killings during peace talks

where did you get the 3rd condition!!hmmm..
what about MR condition that VP has to give in writing that he is prepared to talk

Ok fine..if LTTE agrees to this who will monitor the conditions..
1) I am sure when the Govt wants to stop the talks they can always say they did smuggle the weapons
2)Yes!! Time frame is a good thing but again who will monitor the talks and what is the time frame the GoSl is expecting
3) No killings..what about the white Vans and the innocent people missing..will that continue on the Govt side..
I think the 2 & 3 rd conditions should also applicable to the GoSl and its forces and they should have monitors!!

One more thing this time when the Govt agrees on the SLMM they should stick to them and not say the SLMM supports the LTTE!!

I agree with you in fact on this 3 conditions if the LTTE are genuine for talks to resume there is no problem in abiding to it. After all its all common sense prevailing from the state.

The 3 points as you clearly put forward make it very precise why it should be adhered should the talks take place to establish a solution for the issue. Otherwise what is the point when LTTE playing the usual hide and seek game while the talks were taking place, it does not add up.

yes!! it was easy for him to get rid of JVP and please post what he said about LTTE and also state what happened to him..That is the difference!!
He was under JRJ's govt. we all know what JRJ's policies and he hated Tamils and he was behind the 1983 riots..The sinhala people know all about JRJ and his administration. when he died he was not given a proper funeral cos he didn't deserve one.
He was a racist..so just imagine if anyone uses JRJ's name..he has to be a racist too!

Tigress19, berty (hi bro, how are you today?)

Please see 'my reply to tigress in page 14', I try to give you some info.

At least we in this forum must grow some trust, it will help of us to argue and talk some productive things.

I know you folks are having a big need for peace, like most of us.

GOSL is not purposely telling lies, but when some people see through the LTTE filter, see like that. This is same for some Sinhalese, when they see LTTE news.

Its natural,
if TRUST is a theory,
we have to test many hypothesis to build that.

Best.
