PKF:
Who has damaged what! is not the issue and for my thinking let the talks happen anywhere...even in the moon. Will it happen? Will both parties genuinely go for talks?
Well you need to accept that the present crisis is the fault of both parties. CFA has to continue for any possible talks and Norway has to be in the stage.
What is your comment on the new areas captured by SLA. Do they need to withdraw from them? I mean Sampur and in Muhamalai if any. |

Revy:
Before we come to any conclusion of the future of SL we will discuss of the issues on hand.
All tamils know the agenda of IC and to certain extent why LTTE is lying low!Our sinhala brothern are not looking at future just celebrating on the current victories forgetting what happened before 2002.
Now this is why I always say in this forum that GOSL should come out with a viable solution and for that to happen all southern parties should formulate a solution.
In my personal view this is not going to happen but having some hopes after the SLFP/UNP talks and the news of UNP/JVP talks!
So I dont feel GOSL will be for any greater devolution of power unless the IC pushes them to. |

Yes, hard to compare with yours, but I am also from SL (west), and we have our kind of problems, a lot.
About peace talks,
I think best place to conduct talks is LTTE HQ in Killinochchi.
Then VP can keep in touch at least by running boys between the bunker and the table, since he cant use mobile phones.
Can you remember how Russians killed the leader of Chechnya..? |

I agree with you that the south needs to be honest about solving the problem, unfortunately I don't think there is any hope of that.
If they were truly interested in solution that was fair, they would already be working on constitutional change to allow for federalism or autonomy.
Then people like Forest would be correct in stating look the government has offered something and the LTTE didn't take it, but right now its the same old same old, and if there was no LTTE, even the meanigless talk would vanish like morning mist. |

Pretty Kfir,
sorry i was away from the forum..since you wanted to read the full text of my message . please do so and judge for urself..It is a shame when JRJ decided to cut & paste just a part of my post..
Tarquin,
I think your right in assuming the LTTE tactics but seriously the Tamil people are being left alone without much protection specially in the recent past when the innocent young boys are being abducted from their own houses and murdered!!
I am doubtful whether LTTE actually capable of bigger things like the Final Eelam war!! what i mean is nothing has so far pointed me to believe that they can do it this time. The problem they have this time around is the areal bombing!! they do not seems to be having any real power to stop it!! This is my opinion!!
I hate to see our own Tamil people undergo hardship and there is no one to protect them in our own areas!!
I feel the only way LTTE will show that they can counter attack for the killing of innocent Tamils is by Targeting and bombing civilian sinhala areas!!
I would like to hear from you too Edited By - Berty - 29 Sep 2006 04:02:06 GMT |

Hey swathi / revy;
seem like you bros-on-fire are really busy thrashing it out here...
in my case, i've chosen to be MIA, and watch and enjoy the 'action'.... :-)
when our saviours (SLAF) are doin the job right, we take care of the economy, reach out for the families of the fallen heroes, and keep affairs at home rolling...
btw, how many more days till Nov.27? - i am waiting impatiently...
and how many LTT miserables will be killed by that time? hmmmm.... |

2. I think it is high time GOSL went to the US, UK, Canada, and the EU and exposed Norway for what it is.
PKF dude, the only problem with your idea is that those nations have repeatedly and wholeheartedly supported Norway and her policies in Sri Lanka, did you forget that the co-chairs have asked the GoSL to fully implement the CFA? Does that sound like they have any idea of rejecting Norway or that they do not agree with her stance?
3. No, if the LTTE even whispers about SLDF needs to withdraw from Muhamalai and Sampoor, then the talks will end up in a flop - immediately. This is like the GOSL sitting down and asking that LTTE vacate Mulativu and EP camps! Sampoor especially will never be vacated by the SLDF - until LTTE has fully disarmed and permanent peace has dawned...as it was from Sampoor that LTTE let in the barrages of artillery to hit the Trinco harbor...and that is something GOSL can never let happen again.
And this is exactly what the LTTE want, as I said before this was decided long ago, the proverbial last straw was when the Sinhala government turned their backs on tens of thousands of Tamils affected by the tsunami by abrogating a signed agreement, the LTTE knew then that no solution was possible with any Sri Lankan government, you were given one last chance and you have blown it.
Now they are building up their case, the IC, as shown by Norway's increasingly balanced criticism of both sides, is running out of patience with the GoSL, which is all the LTTE needs. There will be no IC outcry against the LTTE when the war starts. Edited By - Revy - 29 Sep 2006 04:07:33 GMT |
