we want to end this now, lets discuss autonomy

Musketman what autonomy is there to discuss? The LTTE have already given you their political solution via the ISGA, where is the governments own solution?

Who is being irational again?

Ok, Tamilcanuck you believe multiculturalism is the problem. That clearly sums up that you want to be isolated from being multicultural.

JRJ driving Tamils from their homes, killing them and then stealing their land is NOT multiculturalism it is barbarism, and since we were dealing with barbarians the only language they understood was their own.

How many tamils been taxed in when Jaffna tamils come to Colombo by the GOSL?

Indiscriminate ariel and artillery bombings, denial of basic necessities, cutting of electricity, yeah the Tamils of the NE are being taxed much heavier than anything the LTTE is asking for.

This is where the LTTE and its die-hard supporters went wrong from almost the very beginning. They have taken the wrong path of extreme violence whereas talks even if at first if they don't go right, and strong political organisation which would definitely have attracted a large scale following, but of the non-violent variety, would definitely have now brought desired results, even if it took sometime.

Jeez forest you sure are a thick one eh?

Are you ever going to answer the question?

The Tamils tried peaceful politics for 30 YEARS!, the TULF was elected PEACEFULY with a mandate of independence in 1977. what did your criminal governments do to address the issues at that point in time and previously? They meted out violence and persecusion so what is your answer to that?

Now reap what you sow.

Forest,

the prestgious jobs in the country should be shared between sinahlese and tamils and also there must be markets created in the south for produce from the north so farmers and fishermen in the north can prosper.

If you look at carefully in Colombo. Most of the top businesses are owned by the tamils who live comfortably and there is no injustice or second class citizenship there. There are lot of Tamil Doctors, Engineers etc. What we see is a handful opinions who believe a complete overhaul, which doesn't make sense that much. In contrast how many Sinhalese businesses in the NE?

yes, I beieve we need to change the financial set up in the NE. Money must be pumped into these areas. But if we think about the NE then SE , Uva and Sabaragamuwa have the same problem. In fact islandwide we have discrimination. The only way to develop is through decentralising either via PCs or Federal means.

Separate state will not bring the promised land for the tamils and that is just a joke.

Hello Revy modaya over there,

When we generally talk about a 'solution', its based on the principle that when autonomy is given, LTTE cease to exist. The govt will never agree to give autonomy and also allow your LTTE to function and also spread its tentacles to other areas. So get your ISGA thought out of your head. Your LTTE does not even have the bargaining power to keep NE together it seems. It now looks like the NE de-merger will also go to a referendum. The way your LTTE has been treating Sinhalese, Muslims and Eastern Tamils, will guarantee a mandate to split the 2 provices. Therefore, if I was you, I would urge the vanni apes to get whatever is offered and disarm. The way things are going, even that choice will evaporate in a few weeks.

JRJ,
Yes I agree power sharing on a devolution/federal state basis is important and also economic development as well to go with it.

ML, MaKaSo, JRJ.. and all music lovers..

Since gods are watching from a distance......

why dont we for a change enjoy life.. after all the GOSL and LTTE is ready to sit around the table now!!
here is a wonderful song to start with...
ML please make this song awailable to all.... ;O)

God is watching us from a distance. by Bette Midler

From a distance, there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land.
Its the voice of hope, its the voice of peace,
Its the voice of every man.

From a distance we all have enough,
And no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
No hungry mouths to feed.

From a distance we are instruments
Marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
Theyre the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance

From a distance you look like my friend,
Even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
What all this fighting is for.

From a distance there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land.
And its the hope of hopes, its the love of loves,
Its the heart of every man.

Its the hope of hopes, its the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.
And God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance.
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching.
God is watching us from a distance.
