Maj. Gen. Lars Johan Soveburg, Head of SLMM met Thailselvan, head of the political wing of the tiger organization today at Kilinochchci.
Thamilselvan asked the Head of SLMM to influence GoSL to open the A-9 road. He said many people in the North are suffering as A-9 road was closed and goods couldn?t be transported.
A-9 road was closed when tiger terrorists launched mortar and artillery attacks on troops from un-cleared areas. The Government has proposed an alternative road from Jaffna to Paranthan that would avoid Muhamale where hostilities are intense. However, tiger organization has rejected the proposal as they would not be able to ?tax? the people and goods that would take the alternative road instead of A-9 road.
Mr. Anandasangaree, Leader of Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) had urged the Government not to open A-9 road until LTTE stopped taxing, abductions and violence. |

JRJ..read my the original posting carefully!
Tarquin,
I think your right in assuming the LTTE tactics but seriously the Tamil people are being left alone without much protection specially in the recent past when the innocent young boys are being abducted from their own houses and murdered!!
I am doubtful whether LTTE actually capable of bigger things like the Final Eelam war!! what i mean is nothing has so far pointed me to believe that they can do it this time. The problem they have this time around is the areal bombing!! they do not seems to be having any real power to stop it!! This is my opinion!!
I hate to see our own Tamil people undergo hardship and there is no one to protect them in our own areas!!
I feel the only way LTTE will show that they can counter attack for the killing of innocent Tamils is by Targeting and bombing civilian sinhala areas!!
I would like to hear from you too Edited By - Berty - 29 Sep 2006 15:06:23 GMT |

I said since LTTE is losing out they might start bombing sinhala areas if Tamils continue to suffer..
If LTTE had a chance, they would have trampled Colombo long time go.
Tell me one thing that LTTE have done to Tamils to alleviate their suffering?? |

The pro-LTTE Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has asked India to stop the Sri Lankan government from de-internationalising the Tamil question.
In a letter to the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh dated September 19, the TNA MP, R Sampanthan, alleged that the Sri Lankan government planned to progressively isolate the international community; diminish its involvement in the resolution of the Tamil question; prevent it from curbing Human Rights abuses; and ensure its eventual withdrawal from the issue.
Still cheating the Tamil folks by trying to SQUEEZE OUT a solution from an outsider...
No one... repeat no one can touch the excellent systems already in the country... they only need fine tuning and we don't need violence or a foreigners 2 cents worth.
This shows that the terror is to INTERNATIONALIZE the fake 'Tamil' issue.

Berty,
Buddy, its really up to you and your belief on LTTE as I have no acrimony. All I have to say is your belief and my belief in Peace are different.
I don't see counter bombing is going to solve any problem and that was my idea. I believe in talks, talks and more talks to sort out. Military means are only patch work. That is why I am not with the JVP brothers. Killing will lead to more killings, tell me if I'm wrong.
I believe talks leading to understanding and credibility among both tamils and sinhalese are the way to solve, that is where I stand buddy.

Targeting and bombing civilian sinhala areas!!
Berty,
all what is needed is something like a KIA where it dodnt nt kill nay civilains but paralysed the economy that everypne and their dog will feel the pain.
one the pain is felt all over the people in the south will urge the govt to stop (Plus the GOSL will also lack foreign investment and funds).
the war will stop!! this is what happend in 2001.
anyone have access to Iqbal athas column publcished within the last 2 weeks or so. He is questioning why tigers are holding back. one reason is if they do something like that in colombo right now the 'peace' talk or whatever will have no meaning.
IC has been always critical of the LTTE. this is nothing new. it appears now the IC is also trying to be critical of the GOSL which is something new. So most likely the lTTE is holding back to see how far the IC will take this before making a move |

why not JRJ!
if you continue to hit me and i take it you will continue this tradition. I hit back you'll think TWICE before trying it again.
forced conlonisation were taking place. tamils names were changed manal aru became welioya overnight.
dollar & kent farms were hit and the colonisations kind of stopped. |
