Sri Lanka signs convention on transnational crime and child abuse
Wednesday, 27 September 2006 - 9:47 AM SL Time

Sri Lanka has become a signatory to the Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.

Foreign Minister Mangala Samarweera ratified the convention at the United Nations in New York, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday.

The Convention on Transnational Organized Crime enables states and parties to cooperate with one another in investigating, prosecuting and punishing crimes committed by organized criminal groups where either the crimes or the groups who commit them have some element of transnational involvement.

The Minister also participated in an informal meeting of the Foreign Affairs Ministers of SAARC countries and in the Fifth Commonwealth Foreign Ministers` Meeting.

This is a big white wash by the GOSL trying to get more money from donors; this is all about hoodwinking the donor countries and IC in general.

What is happening to the existing laws which are blatantly abused.

Tamils and some sinhalese are being murdered by armed forces, any one punished? NO

People are dissapearing in rows? anyone caught or punished?
No

Women are raped in daylight? anyone punished? NO

SL is credited to be the most armed country, beating INDIA PAKIS NEPAL & BANGALADESH.

SL is credited to be a failed state.

Now SL also will be credited to be a major human rights violator in the WORLD, not just in Asia.

Credits go to JR, Premadasa, CHandrica, now MR. Also other veera surayas such as Ratwatte... played a key part.

One very good example, 17 aid workers murdered by the SLA.

GOSL claimed that there is going to be a team of experts from Australia will do some forensic work.

I understand that they were frustrated in their efforts to conclude their investigation. Is this anything new???

GOSL is quick to carry out murders not investigate them, why? because they are the murderers.

OK, say, SLA did this poor thing, though investigations are going on still.

What about that 100 plus Muslims killed in Muttur when LTTE is retreating...?

This is a real tragedy apart for the war on Tamils and the consequences.
Children are our future, instead of nurturing them well unscrupulous people abuse these innocents souls. Sri Lanka has the highest case of child prostitution(perhaps over 50,000), surpassing even Thailand (which is not an envious record), it has a comparably high percentage of child labourers.
Soon the southern streets will be over run by child criminals like in the streets of Rio and Sao Paolo.

I'm not a fan of UTHR(Jaffna) organisation but in bringing this to everyone's attention I raise my hat.

'Poor Thing' statement of the century.

Yes this is only one example, there are thousands murdered by the state, and then not investigated or punished, why they are the murderers.

Dont you get it???
