Good Morning Mr.Tamilcanuck..
Well your post is indeed a revelation :o) .. interesting.
Tell me sir how is it that you support two completely different solutions to your countries conflict??
If you have personally acknowledged in the past that federalism is the best solution to the problem, that appears to now have disappeared .. because as you yourself said;
this is what i wrote more than 6 months ago
Well it was made in January this year .. however the quote I highlighted was made in May of this year .. so your opinion had obviously changed by that point, which is unfortunate cause I believe that a federal solution is the only practical and most realistic solution to the problem in your country..
I am aware that your greatest fear is that the defeat of the LTTE is the defeat of Thamil Nationalism, again as you have quoted before;
they prolong this conflict for a decade or two (maximum), LTTE will be DEFEATED.
I think an interesting point should be highlighted at this juncture..
The LTTE can do something here and now that could prevent this eventual demise and in the process save the lifes of countless civilians ..
This I think was articulated best by one of your well respected senior Sri Lankan Thamil peers Mr. Kulakottan:
Now let me be the devil's advocate.
If I was an LTTE strategist, knowing that GOSL is dragging its feet, I would declare to the IC that LTTE is ready to explore a truly federal model.
If they do so:
1. They will really prove that they stand for the best interest of the Tamil community.
2. It will get a wider support and recognition from the world community.
3. It will force the GOSL to openly declare their stand vis-a-vis the solution to the Tamil problem.
But it may be a wishful thinking. I believe that LTTE will not compromise on their call for separation. But that is not a viable option.

The LTTE, if they claim to truly care about the well being of the Sri Lankan Thamil People will have the courage and the wisdom to trod down that path .. however Like Mr. Kulakottan highlighted-this is wishful thinking.. The present leader of this organisation does not have the capacity to think beyond his own personal quest.
As another respected Sri Lankan Thamil peer of yours once quoted, Mr. aj07;
VP has killed the tamil struggle to abject brutality

That is the unfortunate existential reality.. |
