Interesting fact. So do you actually believe Wimal W to be President after Mahinda. So what about CBK son or daughter? What do you think about Mahinda's sons?
Or any remote chance of UNP coming to power (despite I admit its very remote at the moment) via Moragoda as a Leader?

Lokuttara,
How are you bro?
A very good morning. How are things?
I assume bythe day when Weerawansa comes to power it may well be 2 Lankas. NE separate or else it would be hard to see Weerawansa winning with the support of NE.

Dear Ms. Priyanthy ..
With respect to human rights in your country .. simple solution .. stop the war .. convince the thamil tigers to genuinely declare a complete cessation of hostilities (intelligence and tactical offensives), enter the peace process with the Sri Lankan government..
Are you the foriegn based military spokesman to SL??
I think the Sri Lankan defence establishment has sufficient personnel to voice its stand :o) ..
I am curious .. why are the areas under Thamil Tiger control so abjectly poor when it is a well documented fact that the organisation receives millions in monthly contributions from the expatriate thamil diaspora?? Where does this money go when according to published literature the thamil population in these areas only number a few million??
If the Thamil Tigers are so proficient in smuggling weaponry past the Sri Lankan Navy, why does in not import essential items for the people it supposedly represents since it has already advertised to the world that it functions as a pseudo state?? Edited By - Mig-29C - 21 Sep 2006 11:08:40 GMT |

The Tamils will never be a part of any Lankas, may it be 2 or 5! we want out of all your Lankas!!
But for Weerawansa to be the next king they will have to divide Sri lanka among Sinhalese too!! but most sinhalese like dreaming.. so let them have their moments! |

Bro, I don't think the country needs to be divided into many sections. But for the current mess I believe in Ranil's method of federal state. What we need is a change of costitution to fathom that.
Whether the Eastern Muslims can work together with the LTTE is a different matter or else we may see there is fighting between the tamils and the muslims.
But I believe as in the ancient times the country needs regional divisions to create ethnic harmony or else devolution of power. Which ever way bro, Prabha has to cooperate with the government. He cannot go on like this. Because after all dragging will not bring any solutions to tamils.

JRJ
I believe Bandaranaike family is a spent force now. The two children are in UK. I find it very unlikely that them being contenders.
MR's elction to the top chair is the biginning of a paradime shift in Sri Lankan political landscape. It will be conpleted by UNP leadership being transferd to possibly Karu J. There is a gradual trasfer of power form the elitist colonial vestiges to common Sri Lankas. Among the tamil sri lankas it already has happened.
I do not fully discount the Rajapakse sons. But none of them are in active politics at the moment and They are too young. 12 years is not enough for one to mature.
Moragoda has an out side chance. but yet again he belong to the colonial vestiges (one may say neocolonial). It will be a step back words to elect him.
I donot UNP coming to power unless for a dramtic change in the policical climet like premature death of MR.
I cannot think of any worthy canddidate form the present bunch of SLFPers eithers. MR is very much likly to win another term.
Prediction of Weerasansa on the other post was with a bit of satire too. But for me a chances of a JVP president/pime minister is no less than one ones discussed above. Out of them Weerawansa is the most likely canndidate. And he has begun the ground work alreday in movemtns like the Manel mal move ment.
12 years is very long time. any thing can happen during that.
Only thing reasonble to predict at this juncture is that only 'maraya' is likely to rob MR of his full tenure. |

Could you have ever imagined Premadasa, wijethunga and Mahinda Rajapakse becoming presidents.

Most Tamils even LTTE willing to negotiate on the lines of a federal system.. this is a great achievement for even LTTEs willingness to negotiate on those lines rather than their original position of separate state..
But the consecutive sinhale regimes have not shown any seriousness to solve the problem including JRJ.. every one of them just bought their time to be on the throne.. and Tamils are tired dealing with this short sighted sinhala regimes.. and now we got another 11 years with MR as Dogcube said. |
