Karuna would not be a problem as long as he doesn't get in the way of democratic politics. He would have great advantages in playing the Thondaman strategy and this smart man can be expected to play exactly that. That way he would hold loyalty from all ethnic groups and be able to dictate terms to any party in power at any given time.
He also knows that the SLG is more than keen to show the east as a developmental model veersus the north, in collaboration with other democratic power brokers. He must have already seen how he can become a visionary leader for the east, with a non-partisan following in the long term.
In the end, developing leaders who take care of their peoples' future within a democratic framework and unified nation is what matters. SLG has the opportunity to turn him into such a leader. |
