Musketeer,
LTTE negotiate on core issues of this conflict so that we can all make a move on with our lives. It is in Tamils interest that they do.

For some ignorance is bliss for others concealment of facts is a profession. You must have known that Tamil political leaders negotiated on core issues with Sinhala leaders and signed pacts and agreements only to be found that they were all either torn away or not implemented. Even now American Diplomat who is committed to oppose LTTE asked the Govt to table 'concrete proposals' to negotiate, nothing is on the table, hitherto. What can LTTE negotiate on? The GOVT wants the LTTE to lay down arms as the PM himself made it clear. Is it possible. Can you pin point any solution that was blocked by the LTTE or any Tamil party?

BC- and SC- Pacts were sabotaged by the respective Opposition Parties of that time and P-ToMS was by the JVP and the Sinhalese- Judges in the courts and CFA by the SLA by still occupying the private homes and rearming paramilitaries. LTTE has its own share of violations which stem from SLA's intrasigence.

Come out of your bunker, throw away your musket and base your arguments on facts. Tell us what is there to negotiate?

I get the feeling if Karuna doesn't get what he wants at the end of this conflict in the east, the gosl must be prepared to face another front. The true casualties at Sampour are the poor cattle as the terrorists have moved their heavy weapons and fighting units, however small they are to areas in the south,to fight the SF another day.It is premature to celebrate any military gains at present. When the terrorist casualties are relatively small with respect to their whole number of carders mounting to over 18,000.Thanks to the CFA and relative peace in the country since the CFA,their carders have melted out by way of migration to the south and perhaps abroad. This is a terrible dilemma to the tigers and perhaps they are friendless in the world now.Ra nil has done the right thing and the history will judge him so,though he has one of the most unpatriotic bunch of traitors in this party, who never gave his message properly to the people.Perhaps it was correct not to reveal the true consequences to the terrorists of sighing the CFA,as it would hasve discourged the terrorists to sign the CFA.They are now holding on to the CFA for their survival, with a few advantages that has,but on the whole it was a disaster for these terrorists.

Karuna doesn't get what he wants at the end of this conflict in the east, the gosl must be prepared to face another front

This is what the Govt want others to believe. Govt and Karuna are the same as Karuna made it clear to the press in that he was asked by the SLG (MR) to hold on to the fire until Geneva I was over. MR also intimated to Anto Bala and to The Uthayan (Jaffna newspaper) that he would contain Karuna if LTTE was prepared to sideline Norway and agreed to have direct talk with him.

If not Karuna SLG will urge EPDP or even Ananthasangaree to insist on separate separate representation at the talks. These are all derailing tactics.

SLG or the hardliners within it is of the view, following recent military victories, that a military solution is in sight and trying to convince IC about its commitment to talks while making all possible impediments to to the table. MR is repeating what CBK tried and failed.

Unless there is sincerity on the part of the SLG for negotiation and stop tryinng to undermine LTTE there is no talk or peace.

Including Karuna in the negotiations allows the SLG to bring in a credible player who will respect the multi-racial nature of the area. That effectively nullifies the 'sole rep'. The 'sole rep' needs to ge decimated further in the east to make this work, which can be achieved by backing Karuna.

Good move.

Hey, why only Karuna??? What about the Up country Tamils???

Karunaawantha Karuna!
Karunai ulla Karuna!
Merciful Karuna!

I fathomed that Karuna is a snake under the grass; helping our idiots in the government. Karuna's actions are all short lived and the benefits to GOSL is cypher.

GOSL willingly fostered a Traitor.

Cut, chop ,incise and disect the country!!

WHEN YOU BREAK PROMISES, YOU ARE FORCED TO COMPROMISE. A LESSON TO OUR POLITICIANS.
