As for me it is the LTTE that prevented first Tamil bocoming the Prime Minister of SL.

Yes, correct, but LTTE was the prime reson for Kadir to became a gem in SL politics. Without LTTE, he gets no chance, with LTTE he got no chance.

This is exactly the point.... Sinhala people had a chance... a great chance to please many moderate Tamils...but they did not do it... look...Why do you think that governments in India, Singapore have created ceremonial positions for the President?

In old Ceylon there were such posts... but Sinhalese people eleminated them thus planting the seeds for VP and many of his followers...

Mennan,

When the LTTE is changing demands according to its internal troubles (Karuna) and losses in war front, can we expect GOSL to be very firm? As we know, SL leaders are having lot of weak movements too.
But the bottom line must be, one country, full rights (definition is still in gray area for this full rights) to Tamils through an election in those areas and live together in Sri Lanka.
Do you think LTTE can win a free election?
A movement like LTTE cant maintain a high success for a long time. They must change the path for a better future.

I cannot agree, because:

- Sinhalaa leaders never prevented anyone coming to the Parliamnet... so anyone with the right 'ingredients' can become the leader of the country.

- So called Tamil leaders were always looking for division and separation and were not willing to identify them as 'Sri Lankans'... they labeled themselves as 'We Tamils', different from others and having different goals and objectives.... becoming bottlenecks to GOSL.

- The so called Tamil leaders always think that if they have a grievance they should first run to a foreigner and drag them into our affairs, thus complicating the grievance.

- Foreigners look at the 'opportunity' and ensure that more the two communities divided, they can exploit us. That's why the Indians created LTTE terrorists on Indian soil and released in our country. They got progress... we got DDT.

- A sensible Tamil leader will accept two basic realities... first, they would realize that Tamils are minority... and the second is that the best partner to talk on any grievance is the GOSL addressing them directly... Involving outsiders would again ensure that both parties would be losers and... and would also create a bad precedent.

I expect a Sri Lankan to rule Sri Lankans.

I never consider Sri Lanka is only for Sinhalese. This is the very hard part that we must come into agreement.

I'm telling to all thugs now. This GOSL looser will go to Geneva or somewhere again and shake their head like donkies. This thugs in the forum going to see. Anyone want to challenge?

GOSL will to talks at a palce decided by GOSL. No argument.

They will not agree to every thing the LTTE and Norway says. better remind of the last Geneva session. GOSL will dictate the terms.

I Accept the The Challenge. Remember GOSL is in the poll position now and It is the LTTE begging for talks now. GOSL prefer war at the moment.

But Sinhala mindset is different... they think Sri Lanka is only for Sinhalese...they forgot the long history when King Elara ruled the country from Anuradapura.... they do not consider Tamils and the rest are part of SL... this is the root of the whole problem...

Digrss

There will never be two soverign contries in the island of Sri Lanka. (as much respected A Sangariee pointed out) due to geopolitical reasons.

A Tamil is extemely unlikely to become the president of Sri Lanka(Even a very poweful Sinhala Christians will not produce a SL president) just like no black in US or no asian in UK/canada, no chinese in australia, no maori in New Zealand will become the leader of the country.

Whether Sinhalese rule Tamils or the Tamils rule the tamils is open for individual interpretation.
