I beg, request and plead GOSL and our law-makers to please consider the service of our troops and allocate land from the North and the East for these families, regardless of their ethnic background. That's is a reasonable gesture.

Hey little doggie still all bark and no bite? hehe

Its NOT their land to give.

Pachaya1,

Ask your friends where were they or their parents born? If in UK all the professional jobs are filled with disproportionately in favour of recent immigrants or their children. I was talking about those Sri Lankan minorities who were in Sri Lanka from time immemorial not just refugees or economic migrants like your friends.

Also your friends may remind you that all of them enjoy voting rights whereas many in the tea and rubber estates who were here for more than 4 generations still do not have those rights.

Also your friends tell you that Sri Lanka was the only country in the world that expelled upcountry Tamils who built the economy of the country and was quoted as an example by a white racist Enoch Powel in the parliament to expel brown/black immigrants from UK. You may know he was sacked from the Conservatite party Shadow ministrial post.

If you care to learn what is happening in the other parts of the world you may even realise that SL is the most barbaric country that opress its minorities for more than 50 years.

Blaming the present day government and the present day SLA is a waste of time. Most of the politicians are dead, or killed, the army personnel who were responsible for any massacres are in jail, dead or retired.

So who does that leave? - I guess it leaves the people. But time has marched on. Even 1983 as horrible as it was, was 23 years ago. 1956 was fifty years ago. Most of the sinhalese alive today were not even born in 56. Time has marched on, as much as you wish to dwell in the past.

SWRD is long dead. Premadasa is long dead. Cyril Matthew, curse his rotten soul, is long dead. JR is dead. Lalith, Gamini - dead. Rajiv - dead. Kadiragamar - dead. Dutu Gemunu - Dead. Elara - Dead. Who still remains - Prabakaran.

hey Jace I know this is going back to an old post in this thread but I don't know why so many try to relate the current conflict to what happened in the past.

As you say 1983 was 23 years ago and so many other incidents even before that. It would also be fine to say that these were in the past and why not move on, if not for one outstanding issue; the Tamil civilians are still suffering to this day, solve that problem and treat them equally and then you can say forget the past.

For these civilians the past is still their present, and for these civilians it is not VP who is doing the killing it is the GoSL, so just as you say you point the finger at VP, they point the finger at your current government.

What has your current government done to show they are any different from those 'ghosts' of the past?

Every square inch (Including, Wellawatte, Kotahena, Digana, Badulla, Puttlam, Galle, Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Batti)of the proud country belongs to all Sri Lankans of all ethnic background.

Little doggie, you still don't get it do you?

Its NOT their land to give away, since these are lands that belonged to someone, whether Tamil or Sinhala or Muslim that is private property, a legitimate government cannot just take it and give it away? Do you get it?
