15. The LTTE should not be allowed to retain its TAF. The matter should be taken up in the UN Security Council under Resolution 1373 and an ultimatum issued to the LTTE to surrender its planes to observers appointed by the UNSC.
If it fails do so, the bank accounts of all members of the Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora suspected or known to be funding the LTTE should be frozen as a first step to make it see reason. If it continues to be defiant, other measures have to be considered like knocking them out.
These measures have to be combined with pressure on the Rajapakse Government to initiate a political process towards a federal solution. Unilateral action only against the LTTE without simultaneous action against the Rajapakse Government or vice versa will prove counter-productive.

This is the last para from Mr.Raman.
I dont think TamilNet guy had read this article complete :D

Thinking,

I dont think TamilNet guy had read this article complete

another hoooooo

Seriously, if the tiger raid was a success and it really crippled SLAF, then why the hell sooo many inconsistancies in terrorist media???

Good play by GOSL. GOOD decision not to allow SLMM. Afterall who the hell are they? They have a horrendous track record in SL: remember the 3rd arm eliment theory? and how SLMM leaked to the ltte that SLN were going to hit a ltte ship? how they tried to create separate training areas for sea tigers? how they tried to dismantle the HSZs?

Lets examine the math whiz's way of counting! there seems to be more than one!

Tamilnet says about 40% taken out(we will wait to see whether this is true or not) as the black out continues while they clear it for the media!

Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission officials who attempted to visit the Air Force base yesterday to initiate inquiries into the attack were refused access to the site by top air force officials, an SLMM spokesman told the Daily Mirror.

http://www.dailymirror.lk/2007/03/27/front/1.asp

but our resident mathematicians quote another report saying migs have bombed in the north which is true.

last time i chked 40% was a subset of 100%

put in another way rent-a-pilot outfit still has a lot of migs left!

Yeah I also think they shouldn't allow SLMM in too. As if SLMM got permission from LTTE to visit the 'TAF' base(s) :D

Now after LTTE declared they carried out the attack why the hell do they bother to visit the site to rule ot if it was a violation or not? beats me!

For all I know buggers will go back and give a call to VP and tell 'tell your guys to drop the bombs in such and such locations next time' :D

Dishan
slaf do not have any y8's sfter the on e downed in anurapura.

My bad. I meant to say Y-12 'harbin'. There was atleast 1 Y-12, 5 Mi-17 on the 'hot' ramp last week. The old stored Mi-24s were in their usual place. Aircrafts come and go out from the Engineering section depending on their needs. The aircrafts hit were probably some of these.

I also believe the Y-12 being painted the air defence grey (similar to the retired IAI pucuras) have been mistaken identified as such in the tamil press. I read a report claiming proof of the demise of the 4 jet squadrons as being that only the 'pucura's was flying. Given the Y-12s are used as a liason aircraft, that was probably standard transport of general staff across the island.

Su33,

targets,targets,targets...if available they will all fly.
Sidenote: the K-8 are busy with the jet conversion of SLAF pilots.

sidenote: The last Y-8 went down due to a engine fire which burned thru the wing spar while on a check ride after departing SLAF Ratmalana. It was attempting to make it back to the field with the inboard engine on fire when there was wing seperation. Final location was south of Ratmalana.

what do you think tamil canadian?

you guys have been destroying bases (both real and imaginary doesnt matter) like there is no tomorrow. every time LTTE hits the very next day or so ANOTHER big base of the LTTE falls!

if one sits down and adds the bases fallen and the cadres killed LTTE must have been destroyed a few times over by now.!

TCK, Dishan ....it's all about making a point. LTTE made a statement on sunday, now it's time for SLAF to go and make their statement. No one can win this war. Independent state of Eelam is only a pipe dream. And if govt wants to fight this war they have to fight both militarily as well as politically. They are not doing a good job with the latter.
