SU-33,
Where did you read of three planes and the torpedo ?
If they got torpedo?s, it might have been with launcher.
Any idea? I don?t think tigers have boats that can fire torpedoes, but they might improvise. |

Hello Chaps,
I have been away with Interpol needing my services... what with all this LTTE business, the youngsters running the outfit at Scotland Yard dearly needs us old timers!
So, the LTTE is up to its old tricks again... be careful, as these blighters are good at innovating tactics.
The MTB threat might be deadly--for the youngsters, that means Motor Torpedo Boats. With two torpedos per boat a squadron of four or five boats can be deadly.
Read Len Reynold's 'Dog Boats at War' for what the British fast boats did to Jerry shipping.
I say, I hope you chaps get a message accross to your Admirality... this is really deadly stuff, as the torpedo can sink even the biggest of ships.
Mean while lads, keep smashing their vehicles. Straffing their front lines is OK... a more effective focus is to knock off their heavy ground lift capacity. Every lorry should be knocked off.

Holy Moly!
I cant believe this!.. I thought we got Low Altitude scanning Radars Fitted in Anuradhapura. How can they managed to penetrate those Radars?
After all, they managed to escape after the attack.. what were these SLAF guys doing at that time? shouldn't they go after them? Man!! Man!! This is BAD.. Edited By - Dinuk - 26 Mar 2007 01:37:34 GMT |

Apparently they were caught on radar... but no one did anything. Not surprising really, they've had false alarms before, no doubt the SLAF were overconfident. And if they'd shot down the wrong aircraft you can imagine what the anti-war idiots would do that. Also our air defence probably isn't tested like the other SLAF arms. Training is no substitute for experience.
That said, this is probably a huge mistake by the ltte. Its similar to the idea of air-striking India lol. When attacking an overwhelmingly superior military force your only likely to get one shot. Now, since they haven't taken out our runways & aircraft, it is, as MiG-29C said, about the response. |
