GreyFox,

Su would be even more awesome! Practicality aside, I'd love to see our dudes in a premium air superiority fighter. F-16,Rafale,Grippen ..

Pure vanity of course!

MiG 29C Hey I have being following your posts from the start of this heading.
A fellow with zero knowlege about all these hardware.
You are a asset keep this up.

You are correct GOSL should come up with concrete proposals
for power sharing or whatever it is to accumulate more support from IC.

Not only is the Su-27/Su-30 a fantastic air superiority fighter but it is also a fantastic ground attack craft. It can carry upto 8 tons(yes you read it right, 8000kg!!) of bombs and missiles.

Yes MIG-29 and Su-27/30 would be a great sight over SL.. I think the MIG-29SE or MIG-29SMT would be great..both have a payload close to 5000KG & good air combat capability..and the SU-27SKM..but money, logistics, spares and traning will be a big prob. but as pointed out by mr.MIG-29c too many differnt types of A/C is a big mess for SL..

Well if bangladesh could have MIG-29's with a mix of F-7s,Q-5s and F-6s why not SL?? :-)

Dear Mr. Devout ;-),

Sorry for the 'dicey' questions heehee. and I completely understand.

I heard that GOSL struck a deal with Iran for some SAM batteries? Is the deal dead? I hope so because i see no reason why we need dedicated SAM batteries since you said we are equipping AAMs to K8s?

Also any more info you've got on the 2 tiger ships that were sunk Mr. Mig29? How did 2 ships end up in the same area? It really doesn't make any sense to me.

And according to your last post, does that mean we are getting the modified C7s with the lantirn pod afterall? I thought our defence secretary hinted an interest in getting more floggers?

TC Mr. Devout. Thanks for the political explanation :-)

You guys are definitely making Mr. Mig29c tear his hair out one by one lol.

Mr. Mig29 has spent a considerable amount of words on why SLAF should concentrate on the FC-1 rather than the MIG29. Its not only vanity. Take into consideration the compatibility to western avionics, training (K8s suitable to train the thunder) and spare part issues which will directly come from Pakistan or China which is free to help us in any scenario. yes, I agree with Mr. Mig29. Thunder rocks!

Hi SU33,

about the Iran SAM deal..were they for MANPADS or low altitude SAM's? though we have K-8's with AAM, wouldn't it be a good idea to have point defense SAM units at Key locations & facilities?

A question out to all inc Mr MIG-29C

What MANPAD's/SAM system would you think is best for SL?

Some thing big like:
OSA-AKM, STRELA-10M, NORINCO's TY-90, US Avenger system, Pantsyr S1 or Rafael's Spyder ?
or smaller like :
Mistral,Starstreak,Stingers, SA-18, SA-16, QW-3, FN-6?

Roger on that SU33...

FC-1 Thunder rocks.. looking at the way SL links with Pakistan and China are growing...FC-1 should'nt be too far off...

NORINCO is making a new Thermobaric (air fuel) low drag & Cluster bombs...if we could get our hands on these...the tigers will pay their due.. ;-)

Nemesislk,

I think they were some SA-18 igla man portables and SA-6 ground based sam batteries. Not sure myself.

And its my bad. According to Mr. mig29 its not K8s that will play the AA role. Its the Kfir C2/C7s armed with AIM-92ps.

Coming back to the vanity - you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Vanity is a girly thing, not for guys. Shame on you :-P hee
