Good Day Mr.Tamilcanuck..
I am a little disappointed you don't have a more discerning eye .. this supposed video you've pawned of as footage of the incident on the 18th is sadly the incident on the 9th .. another site you might enjoy this video from:
As always your exuberant unreserved support of the Thamil Tigers is entertaining and good to see :o) .. I would read a little bit more about the differences between an SLN Inshore patrol craft and an SLN FAC before you dive into this discussion..
I hope you had a chance to check out the article about the 4 MiG's in the international press.. in reply to your question a while back ''where are the MiGs'' .. their coming sir :o)
Good to see that your still monitoring my posts amongst the shadows :o)
Take care Your gun .. good to see you again.. |

If you could....
Can you tell us if the new mystery aircraft SLAF acquired are combat, cargo or reconnaissance aircraft?
Plus how many of them have been brought? Edited By - GreyFox - 22 Nov 2006 01:29:38 GMT |

Mr.Greyfox..
In reply to your question..
Can you tell us if the new mystery aircraft SLAF acquired are combat, cargo or reconnaissance aircraft?
Unfortunately sir I cannot reveal this as of yet .. I understand your and, the frustration of other members in this forum with regards to this issue .. like I've said to the other members .. if and when the thamil tiger leader declares war on the 27th im sure the relevant assets will be mobilised in the unfolding weeks ..
Plus how many of them have been brought?
I can answer this - the order is for 1 aircraft .. and it hasn' arrived in Sri Lanka yet ..
On another topic, I take it you and all the other Sri Lankan's have by now read the Co-Chairs statement.. I have posted some very relevant and interesting extracts..
..''We condemn the continued and systematic ceasefire violations by the government of Sri Lanka as well as by the LTTE,'' said the statement, read out by US Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns and referring to the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam movement.
..The four-party group went on to ''particularly condemn the LTTE for initiating hostilities from populated areas, and the government of Sri Lanka for firing into such vulnerable areas and killing and wounding innocent civilians''.
..They called on both sides to set up demilitarized zones to protect civilians displaced by the fighting and ''depoliticize'' the humanitarian issue by opening up sea and road routes for relief convoys.

..In Washington, U.S. Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns noted that the United States is not a neutral observer: it believes the Tigers are a terror organization responsible for innocent deaths, and the government has a right to maintain its territorial integrity. The EU and Sri Lanka join the United States in designating the Tigers, also called the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, a terrorist organization.

This last statement is very interesting indeed .. you can draw whatever parallels you like .. note this though - if the thamil tiger leader declares war on the 27th .. the US will not sit quietly by..

Mr Panzer,
In reply..
..not just 4-5 sea tiger boats at a time but the entire flotilla during a battle.
To achieve such a feat there would have to be a considerable amount of coordination between the SLAF and the SLN.
Any specialized aircraft/stratergy to achieve this?
The current Naval craft within the SLN are more than adequate to deal with any Sea Tiger FAC like the Muraj series of boats .. the threat remains from Sea Tiger Homicide craft.
I remember reading a research paper from a team of US naval engineers here in the US in 2005 about some studies the Navy conducted using small craft similar in design to Sea Tiger stealth homicide boats. These studies found that the craft had very poor directional stability and were easily flipped over when caught in the wake of a larger boat. Therefore as possible tactic, SLN FAC could try capturing the homicide craft in its wake and zig-zagging to generate a considerably turbulent wake to overturn the approaching homicide craft.
Further more, early detection is the main advantage the SLN could hope for, because once detected these targets can be easily destroyed if the crew have sufficient time and maintain their discipline, waiting to strike until they are close enough to ensure that the attacking homicide craft's explosive load will be detonated.
Hope this helps

Mig-29C,
Can Mig-27m carry bombs weighing 1000-2000 Pounds?
Basically, is it capable of carrying bombs which can crush terrorist leader's bunker? |

Mig 29C,
I must say that your posts have been most interesting. I would like to know the difference between fuel air munitions and thermobaric munitions if there are any. Also can you kindly explain the practical effectiveness in deploying such a weapon against the LTTE?
Best Regards,

Some of the posters here who have contacts in SLAF have stated that Lanka is interested in buying the FBC-1 bombers from china.
Have you heard anything about this?
Plus can you tell us which country manufactured the mystery aircraft SLAF has brought? |

Hello Mig-29C
Welcome back after some time
I am sure you are aware of the inclusion of 4 more Mig-27s, how much of a boost do you think this will bring to SLAF

Hello Mig-29C,
Thank you for your comments. I saw that article sometime ago, kinda interesting how world powers are focusing on littoral crafts. Anyway, according to a friend of mine, who is a navy man, Muraj attack boats are fast becoming a handful to opposing Dvoras. According to him, some Muraj F.A.Cs have up to 3 20/23 mm cannons and, even though they lack accuracy, being under fire from up to 4-6 20 mm cannons is not a lot of fun.
I'm sure this is wishful thinking on my part but is the mystery plane a decedent of the 'first lady'
Once again thank you for your valuable inputs |

Hello KfirC2,
I think Mig-29C already gave a good run down in this thread about what the Mig-27 is capable of. If you would scroll back I'm sure you'll find it.
Have a good one. |
