Hashini,
EU countries do not sell arms to Sri Lanka. israel and Russia are not in the EU. Only the LTTE gets weapons from the EU through their illegal means. If EU gets their belts tightened, that will only hit, human trafficking, drug smuggling, money laundering, LTTE, nobody else.

Due to LTTE arms struggle only most Tamils are been suspected.

So why is it that most democratic countries are not treating their Muslim citizens the way the GoSL is treating their Tamils?

I think that in all fairness that Lakshman Karidigamar was a hell of a lot more than a token Tamil. An internationally respected statesman...and let's face it there are precious few home grown ones in Sri Lanka, irrespective of ethnic origin.

Other than that they have no power, even the greatest of the GoSL 'Tamil' heros Kadir couldn't be allowed to take a position of real power

I take it that you don't know a lot about the world then...
In London, muslims are outraged by constant raids. Most raids produce nothing but the muslims there are helpless.

I don't know who said but it shows how ignorant and one sided a person could be. Only a certain race is being injured by this 30 year conflict could be the most dummest comment I have heard in mylife.
Some people really want to make this war seem one sided. Like it only affect the minority tamils. Everyone is deprived due to this war of their righful will to live in peace, socio-economic norms and dignity for each other due to the unfathomable concept of a Traditional homeland. What they blindly forget is they have a homeland - that they chose to ignore, insult and break away for some greed, what more could GOD give them?

Revy surely does not know what is taking place in other parts of the Democratic world. My university alone made Muslim students re-register with a special form and a procedure made by Homeland security office. Further anyone holding F-1 visas of particular countries had to meet a district officer or a rep. That is what the rest of the democratic world does when combating terrorism.

Hi JohnA, his case is a little complicated, yes he was all what you say there, however he was Tamil in name only, thus all though his entire outlook was with the Sinhala majority, that one factor that he was 'Tamil' was used as a tool by the GoSL to give legitimacy to what he said. Which is why I consider him the lowest of the low.

He could have had issues with the LTTE and done his best to ban them etc. that is fine, however he helped cover up the suffering and horror unleashed against untold thousands of Tamil civilians. Some of the worst attorcities against civilians were carried out under his watch so to speak. Many of these have never even been investigated properly, let alone even the remote chance of someone being brought to justice.

Just contrast it with the recent case of the 17 aid workers, due to the international spot light, the truth came to light, however there were so many cases much worse than this that never saw that spotlight thanks to Karidigamar's efforts.

So that is my point that even though he was influential, his 'Tamilness' was only a tool for the GoSL.

Two weeks ago there was a plan afoot to blow up 8 transatlantic jets by Islaamic groups in the UK. Not by Buddhist or Hindu militants, not Jehovahs Witnesses or Plymouth Bretheren extremist movements, but by Islaamic militants. If minority immigrant groups foster militancy in their bosom, they cannot really complain if they come under particularly exacting scrutiny from the host nation.
