Royal juniors remain unbeaten
Sunday, 3 September 2006 - 6:35 AM SL Time

Royal College under 15 division three cricket team has been able to maintain their unbeaten record in the first round of the 2006 inter-school all island cricket tournament conducted by the SLSCA.

They managed to secure a berth in the second round with ease by beating Hindu College, Lalith Athulathmudali Vidyalaya, Mahanama College and Presidents College, Kotte.

A fine all-round performance by the entire team has enabled them to show their might and grit to the opponents. Some superb individual performances by right hand opening batsman Thanoj Ratnawardana scoring 510 runs and capturing 04 wickets and number three left hand batsman Anupama Bulegoda who too accumulated over 350 runs and captured 12 wickets has certainly energized the teams performance. This year`s team is captained by Thanura Keenavinna. There is also Seshitha Gunadasa, Dilan Walgumpola, Supun Perera, Dumidu Kulathunga, Omal Rajapaksha and Randula Jayasuriya who too have contributed to the success of the team.

These youngsters are ably coached by Shiraz Shamsudeen former Isipathana cricketer who has been doing a wonderful job for Royal Cricket by producing results in all age groups.

Did Ranil ever go to Royal?

I doubt.

He has never learnt and never departed.

Probably he went to St. Thomas.

Mr. Brown must be a Royalist. He is very concerend about Royal. In fact, there is nothing wrong with that. If not for few poor souls, Royal, in general, is a very good school.

Yes, of course. It was the key Sinhala Buddhist school set up to fight the Christian West.

It is at Royal only Nalin De Silva learnt to fight against Christian West. :-)

STC only produces brave soldiers like Shantha Kottegoda, Donald Perera, Clancy Fernando etc. STC doesn't produce coward gay people like Ranil.

Ruwani nago,
However, take the bigger picture People like JR, colvin r de silva, sir john Kotalawala, lalith Athulathmudali .. in politics, Ranjan Madugalle (sports) the list is no ending .. are some of the great personalities Royal has produced. To be fair on Ranil (though I am not a great fan of his), he was the Prime Minister on 2 occasions & has done his fair bit for the country. Afterall, Though SWRD studied on St. Thomas his son went to royal.

Prince,

You are right I agree with you. Bandaranaike studied at St. Thomas and he loved his alma mater very much. He did not want to see the reputtion of his beloved former school ruined, thats why he sent his son to Royal.

Now do you understand?
