Couple of years ago while I was returning to UK from Norway, at the Oslo airport, one of the official got bit suspicious about certain things I had in my hand luggage.He took me to a cubicle and told me that he had to open and go through my luggage.I said ,well, he can do so if he wants to.He asked me, before opening my luggage, whether I have got any drugs in my possesion.Of course,I have got ,I said.The official was bit puzzled.I took all the drugs I hand in my possesion and put in fornt of him.Those are my medications which I take for my mutiple pathologies I have.There were whole heap of it and I have to explain the use of each one of it to him. Then he apologised and allowed me to proceede with my journey.
When I said that I have got drugs with me,he would have thought he had caught a drug smuggler.But later when he found what I was 'smuggling' he was very embarressed and perhaps,disappointed too. |

I agree with you on the face of it Neelan was not someone like Douglas or even like Kadir. But I wondered except for loving his community, and except for scholarly achievements, how did he use his influence to help the Tamils. Did he stand up against the continuing attrocities by the gvts, or was he so naive and played along with the gvt in all the subtle sppressive methods and tools. Just imagine Neelan being part of the legal team which was drafting the constitution of Sri Lanka, would be presented to the high commissions of the western countries or donor countries, as one one of the most important TAMIL member of the Gvts team. That is a trecherous stupidity of Tamils in these positions. With all his scholarly achievements he should comprehend the implications!!! There is genocide, therre is murder, there is systematic colonisation, there is
systematic destruction of Tamils and Tamil properties by the gvt that should protect them. He is a Lawyer what did he do about the human right violations in SL at the time.
If he practiced law and lectured at harvard and didnt get involved with Chandrica and the crowd, I dont think anyone will bother. |

| I met someone from Velanai, an islet close to Jaffna, he said his house was forcibly occupied by EPDP thugs, when LTTE recently moved there all these thugs havevanished from there and his relations have moved back to their houses. This is a reliable information from someone who comes from there. |
