Nirubam,
I cannot say anymore than what you said; what we had we took for granted; whatever comes out of this mess will never be the same, but hope the future generations will never forget the pain and hardships of conflicts, and learn to reconcile!
I also hope that Sinhalese will one day isolate their religion from the state, and allow all communities to feel equal. |

Back to the headline Govt. Freezes tro millions and discuss
Freezing won't help any civilians in tiger held areas.
it is a fact that tro is a laundry for ltte's fund-raising
and it is also fact that tro is also conducting help activities in NE.
Use the millions to help civilians in NE. But... but.. which organization could conduct kind of this actions???? No one and no organization can act in ltte controlled areas independently. Thats mean every one has to work with ltte, and give them also something. |

Berty.....
i agree on those things, how ever you guys never ever, ever, ever, ever mention the involvement of LTTE contributing to those factors
man ..... in Sri Lanka we at least know the police and forces are rough, we know what goes on ,some how we find out
but here it's all done under closed doors, and you'd never ever open them, not in a thousand years, (A popular one for you, who killed JFK?) no matter how much you try to convince me man, there is so much sh!t that goes down in these countries, i haven't been like many other SLankans i went out of my community, the ten years I've been here i haven't known more than 5 Slankans, i have been out there i have experienced things that i doubt many other SLs would.....and it's taken me ten years to realize how good simple life in SL is, this is why I'm on this forum, making my way back home
man ask the Muslims here, or in the UK or in the USA they'll tell you sooo much more than you and i would know, back in the days i believe it used to be with the Blacks in the USA and the Abos in AUS, Pakies in the UK |

Uncle kula
but how India can involve without lifting the ban onltte and have a wonder walk with VP?
at the same time India cannot ignore ltte and set up federal.
are these the blunders of India or ltte's clever maneuver?
perhaps India should come under the umbrella of UN? AND ignore VP-india relations but go along with ltte to transform/ give and take? Edited By - tigeress19 - 3 Sep 2006 15:07:36 GMT |

it seems like a court case is going on. I have no idea of the outcome though.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday decided to inquire into the alleged assault on the businessman by the Kuruvita Prison Officials, who was later succumbed to his injuries, in the Fundamental Rights application filed by the wife of the deceased.
PS: oh my bad
The hearing was fixed for November 24. Edited By - ThinKing - 3 Sep 2006 14:54:50 GMT |

Hear, hear Ganja - statement of the day. No place like home.
Berty - I am in the process of getting my SL passport. To me it's gold ;-)
Yep, probably will chill a bit and not take it personally.
Actually it's funny you say that. I practically run through the airport. Will try the slow walk and maybe shave my stubble off and tuck my shirt in before travelling to Oz next time.... ;-) |

Ganja,
I suppose your right when you mention Muslims and to a certain extend brown skins.
I agree with you as a sinhala you might love to be back in Colombo/Srilanka but if your a tamil, you will prefer to be out of Srilanka and actually feel better than back home. You may say in return blame the LTTE, I am not saying LTTE is not one of the reasons but the truth is there is no TRUST between the two parties. If you go to register urself since ones name is Tamil there are delays in accepting a form & i am sure you will agree as a tamil sometimes it is better to live away from SL. I also hope that Sinhalese will one day isolate their religion from the state, and allow all communities to feel equal.
The sinhalas have bloodied buddhism and they have bloodied their race and the country.
In Sri Lanka the religion has to go hand in hand with the state to maintain sinhala and buddhist dominance over other races and religions. The sinhalas will never agree to separate the state from their religion.
As for the sinhalas treating other communities as equals, forget it. It will never happen. The sinhala trait is to oppress the minorities. They have done it for over half a century and they are so adept at it now. They are even prepared to destroy their country rather than treat the minorities as equals.
After all these years of bloodshed I think us tamils must realise that we have to fight for our survival in Sri Lanka and obtain what we need by force.
Hope is a good thing but for the tamils of Sri Lanka hope just isn't enough. |
