Inathuvesha poipesum atipeththa 'Velupillai',
remember Indo-SL accord? who do you think did not let it work?
Indo-Lanka accord was put on trial by Mr Varatharasa Perumal as the Chief Minister of the Provincial Council, Northeast. But the racist Sinhala government did not provide funds or power to carry out his project so he declared UDI and was rescued by then Indian Government.
I wanted others know that no SRi Lankan Sinhala Govt. will ever grant genuine federalism because even the Regional Councils (BC Pact)in 1958 and District Councils (1965)were sabotaged by kinding anti-Tamil riots by both major parties.
No Sinhala govt ever implemented any agreement or legislation or complied with CFA. |

Hey Berty. I am good mate. Yep, getting ready for the new week. Sorry, was doing mundane stuff like doing all my ironing for the week and cooking dinner. Complete bore. Yep, would be up for doing some tequila slammers with you bud, anyday. Would be a laugh. Anyway onto 'business'
1. Setting the date for the new presidential election, in which the supreme court decided against the incumbent president CBK. Incidentally FYI the five supreme court judges were appointed by CBK
Agreed, Mahinda was in the same party. However my point is he supreme court decided against CBK. There was no guarantee that MR would have won the election. If anything else at the time it appared RW would have won the election, and probably would have if not for the LTTE forced boycott
2.THe Supreme Court dismissal of the appaeal by the accused of the mirusavil massacre of 8 tamil civillians by 5 army soldiers
3.The supreme court award of compensation to Kumuru Selvarathnam who was tortured in Colombo in 1997
How much! and why took so long!!
4. The supreme court award of compensation to Ms Arshadevi, who was raped at an army checkpoint in 2001
what about the justice for the guys who raped. again how much was given?
5. The supreme court judgements in the case of the Krishanty Kumarasamy murder case
What was the judgement again? That was a day time Rape and murder. These guys should have been 'canned' in public like what they do in SG bro!! How long it took to investigate this issue!!
Berty I will not even try to debate the justice or merits of each case. Personally, I agree the time taken to try the cases and the levels of compensation were insulting to say the least. How can you compensate the loss of ones testicles due to the torture, or the horrendous rape and murder? Caning is not adequate in the case of the perpatrators. THey should have been court martialled and shot. Period.
The justice system is imperfect to say the least. For every single miscarriage against tamils that were not addressed, there's a 100 for the sinhalese, especially during the JVP uprising period. It doesn't make it right I know, but it's something every Sri Lankan suffers with.
However the supreme court has proven time and time again to be impartial. They cleared MR - like it or not. Even in the case of the funds being in his private account - that was an accusation. There was no substatiated proof of such a thing at any time.
Sorry, it's not a perfect answer especially on the miscarriages of justice. Edited By - JaceDMace - 3 Sep 2006 14:00:31 GMT |

Hi tigeress,
Thats better. Now I am relaxed.
Well, you have to wait and see which side is the UK?
There are too many International issues on the plate of the International Community right now.
They would leave Sri Lanka/LTTE to get a bloddy nose before they get involved as neither of them are listening to the International Community.
The fun has not started and I think it will be after Novemeber - after the beginning of the NE monsoon. GOSL is trying to push it early.
In any case its a matter of time before it really blows up.

Hi Berty,
It has been a quiet weekend with the family.
No one wants to leave homes in the night. Its all early evening affairs.
Pretty tensed all around with many abductions reported.
Only the people living in the country knows the value of peace and not the ones who are cheering for WAR in the net.
