I agree with you about the 53 man delegation. It's just basically jobs for the boys at the expense of the few people in SL that actually pay any tax. My last posting to SenaM indicates my opinion as to the President's personal integrity.

I make it clear that my posting to nale was a reaction to his seemingly blind conviction that 100% of the Tamil people are 100% behind the LTTE and this is not the case.

Karunadase

If you think that Prabakharan would ever hand over control of the area under his control to a democratically elected government you are deluding yourself.

JohnA,
Even Mahathma Gandhi did not get the support of all the Indians for his freedom struggle .There will be some selfish people,in every race, who for their own benefit will not support the freedom struggle. It is the case with the Tamil race as well. That is quite natural and that will not determine the course of the struggle.Vast majority of the tamils, all over the world, support our struggle to be free from the tyrany of sinhal state terrorism. That has been eloquently estabilished, to the world, in the last three or four weeks.
My view about the rich tamil people living in the west is that they should not return to Thamileelam but support the economy of Thamileelam from abroad. That would be more beneficial to our people than returning to Thamileelam.

Representatives of Tamil political parties addressing a press briefing held Friday in Colombo Holiday-In-Hotel said they are going to hold awareness meetings among Tamil people in Colombo from next week against the increase of abduction by the intelligence service of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA). They stressed that several Tamil youths in Colombo had been abducted by SLA intelligence unit in past and immediate action should be taken to stop this.
Mr.T.Maheswaran, Colombo district parliamentarian of the main opposition United National Party (UNP), Mr. R.Yogarajan, Vice President of the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC), Mr.P.Chandrasekaran, Nuwara Eliya district parliament and Mr.P.Radhakrishnan, Colombo district parliamentarian of the Upcountry Peoples Front ( UPF) and Ms Padmini Sithambaranathan, Jaffna district parliamentarian of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) participated in the press briefing.

Mr.P.Chandrasekaran is the leader of the UPF and a Minister in the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government. Mr.Radhakrishnan of UPF also holds the post of Deputy Minister. CWC is now a constituent of the UPFA government and its President Mr.Arumugan Thondaman holds cabinet portfolio.

UNP MP Mr.Maheswaran said that it has been reported that about thirty Tamils had been abducted in Colombo. This matter has been brought to the notice of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL). Every one knows that army intelligence unit has been responsible for these abductions. 'We directly blame the Government for this. We would move for a debate in the Parliament when it resumes its sitting on Tuesday. Government should answer to these abductions in Colombo,' Mr.Maheswaran said.

Extra judicial killings are taking place in Colombo and North East. The President is keeping silent although he knows the force behind these crimes. Well-planned pogrom against Tamil people is taking place, Mr.Maheswaran said.

I have met Tamils living in England who are ashamed of the LTTE. I do not get the feeling they are in the minority.

Context ? .. I understood the decision to 'freeze' the TRO acccount was taken by the Director of the Central Bank, after receiving an instruction from the Auditor General. (These people can stand on their 'own feet' - they may listen to the President, but they will decide 'on their own'. In fact it is possible, the current Auditor General is a Tamil person).

Now, I am a little confused .. there are people in here who try to maintain, our President is a dim-wit ('motta-rala' is how a good many over-sea Tamils wish to identify him as), and there are others (like you), who see him as - all-powerful, cunning, corrupt ..

May be you think - 'The British knew best, what was good for Sri Lanka ?' Continue thinking that if you want to .. but you wo'nt find many people in here, agree-ing ..

This TRO for you JohnA, If the money is collected for indeed helping innocent civilians, God will punish the Devil who rob the innocents!

Our Mission

The mission of the Tamils Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) is to provide much needed relief, rehabilitation and development for the people of the North-East of Sri Lanka.

Our Organisation

The TRO was formed in 1985 primarily as a selfhelp organisation for the Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka taking refuge in South India, at that time. Today, TRO's head office is located in Kilinochchi and branch offices have been opened throughout the country. TRO?s long association with the Tamil diaspora has resulted in creation of TROs in several countries throughout the world. This has raised TRO?s international profile and enhanced its ability to operate as an effective non-Government Organisation in the North-east of Sri Lanka.

Our Aims
Provide short-term relief and long-term rehabilitation to the displaced and war affected Tamils in North-eastern Sri Lanka
Channel expertise and funds to promote economic development, uplifting the living conditions for the displaced Tamils in North-eastern Sri Lanka
Promote and seek international aid from nations and non-governmental organisations, for TRO's humanitarian operations in Sri Lanka
Canvass public and political opinion internationally, to highlight the plight of the displaced Tamils in North-eastern Sri Lanka.
Broad Objectives

Two decades of unabated war in the north and east of Sri Lanka, has decimated the social structure in the region. With over one million Tamil people still internally displaced, their life crucially depends on relief and rehabilitation measures taken by Non-Government Organisations (NGOs).

Local and international NGOs have played a significant role in planning and implementing relief and rehabilitation programs which have prevented major crisis in terms of general welfare and starvation. With the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in Sri Lanka, a positive atmosphere now exists for long-term development.

Targeted programs can now be instituted to bring the war-affected people out of poverty and build a strong foundation for structured projects that will provide an opportunity for self-reliance.

A unique strength of TRO is its demonstrated ability to work within the prevailing social, economic and political conditions in North-eastern Sri Lanka.
