All the tamils is the world do not support the LTTE, in fact all the Tamils in Sri Lanka do not support the LTTE. Do you seriously believe that is the rich ex-pat Tamils in Canada and Australia would like to return to Sri Lanka and live under a military dictatorship ? If they were to give the matter serious consideration, with their fiscal clout I am sure that they could find more effective ways of influencing the future of the Tamil population than an armed struggle.

This column is not 'news' any more .. If TRO funds in the US, and Australia can be frozen, why ca'nt they be frozen in Sri Lanka ? (Please note, 'frozen' is not the same as 'appropriated' .. as a lot of 'clue-less' persons seem to be imagining ..)

More important news .. Pres Rajapakse has seen to fit to remove TGS Norpec (Norwegian firm, specialised in the 'oil exploration' sector) from earlier assigned contractual obligations/requirements, signed in February 2002.

We may soon see a British, US or Canadian company coming in v soon to take-over from the Norwegian firm - which seems to have been up to 'dirty tricks', all along. They have been 'sharing' the secrets they have been 'un-earthing' with the Norwegian Govt, but have yet to present a complete set of documents to SL Govt - who hired them for this work ..

Senam : I would agree with you that in the spirit of things frozen does not mean appropriated, however I would remind you we are talking about the legislation enacted by a government headed by someone who attempted to 'freeze' Rs 81m of Hambantota funds.

JohnA,
I do not think supporting the LTTE means the rich Tamils has to go back to SL or Jaffna. The contributions Will never cease but rem this money belongs to helping Tamils, You may not be 100% sure if this is actually a contribution for LTTE!! If it is the other-way around and this money is for innocent civilians for food etc..it is Stealing!!
GoSL will go to any low level to steal money. The corruption in our country is one of the worst in the whole world.
Look at MR who was preaching and complaining about past govt regarding spending is taking 53 people with him to UN (including the first lady's beautician) whose money is it?
