Berty,
I will blame you if there is a Forest Fire!
No you can't...because, the administration is done by some other party. :-)
It would be like blaming SLMM for the war in SL..
LOL ;-)

Karunadasam,
Tha fact of the matter is President doesn't want to wage a war! this is clearly understood. Unlike many assume he would not go flat out war, he is restraint about it. HE still believes in dialogue as many of us believe. Only time will tell.
The point here is not chucking the CFA into dustbin but what would you do afterwards if you are not waging a war.
If you cannot understand this simple logic you better understand now.
Sri Lanka Monkey Motion (SLMM) is doing their bits for the survival of the LTTE amongst the IC.
Things will be gradually done as noone wants to take an undue risk in all out war as in that case LTTE will be defeated soon, but the point here is LTTE are not facing 121 as in a conventional war but a Guireilla warfare which is hit and hide ploy. If the GOSL wants to annhilate that, it requires public perception of the war tactics and the civilians have to be evacuated and LTTE be cornered prior to any commencement. |

Karunadase,
I have not accused every Sinhalese to be a racist.. if the statement is bothering you maybe you are feeling guilty?
No, not guilt, it does bother me to think that a lot of pro LTTE people on this forum seem to hold that view.Even more bothering is the feeling that this 'racism'is somehow linked to Buddhism. If you say this is not the case, at least as far as you are concerned, then I stand corrected.
With reference to your comment on the Sri Lankans claiming to be related to Hitler, they weren't from a place called Angoda were they?
In any case I would like to ask the Sinhala members on this forum which one of you have a direct genetic link to Hitler?
And I do sincerely doubt you would know more sinhalese people than me.:) |

No .. not under CBK (as C-in-C). She would have relied heavily on the SLMM chief to do his 'thing' - would have tried to make out how indispensable the Norewgian led SLMM were for SL in 'making-peace' with the LTTE.
Incident would also have gone to show 'how much' power there was in the hands of the LTTE to determine vital issues like water - for irrigation (and consumption), in adjoining areas. Would have been a 'trump' card in her hand - she would have 'blown it up', to tell the Sinhala people in the South, what a wise Leader she was. |

Berty,
The difference is, SLMM hardly places the responsibility on LTTE even if they have 90% of the proof. They take the terrorists as saints or in their own terms as an equal partner to the government. They say that but they consider LTTE as a more than an equal partner.
When they find, some evidence to prove anything that the forces are responsible, they jump up and down like drugged hedgehogs.
The fact is, if any sort of atrocity has been committed, it is none other than the ruthless LTTE. I and many other peace loving, unbiased folk disgust their violence, inhumanity, and ruthlessness. |

Karunadase,
Actually I am in touch with back home quite often thank you very much :) Last time I visited was a month and a half ago. And I need to get back there at the end of this week for a very very short visit.
About underestimating my opponents.... been guilty of that a few times. Is that a mistake we often make??..hmm intersting viewpoint. Still you have to admit the possibilty of you even with a passable sinhala accent knowing more sinhalese than me is kind of hard to believe. Also your Upper Middle Class Sinhala mates can't hardly be called a cross section of Sinhala society, do you not agree? |

I am sorry mate, you got little knowledge about the rest.. it comes with the territory I guess!! I've studied in Sinhala, got the best OL and AL results one could have and gained in Sinhala medium... anyway thats not the point in here..
I guess I need a little clarification here. Are you saying that I am out of touch with the society in general or the upper middle classes you talk about? To clear out the confusion that I might have made, when I said that I might know more sinhalese that you I meant more Sinhala PEOPLE than you, and not the Sinhala language. Sorry about that :)
I did my A'Ls and O'Ls in Sinhala too, but sadly unlike you, my A'L results left a lot to be desired LOL
Would like to write and discuss more on this but I guess I better get my work done, or get fired! |
