Based on the information I have these guys were indeed forming a part of the LTTE operations related to the procurement of guns and technology. Of course charges are yet to be proven but apparently the authorities have enough evidence. I totally agree with you the US jumps the gun, but this time at least as far as I know, they have got it right. Believe it or not, even SL authorities knew about 'Waterloo Suresh'. Of course i am not even indicating that this was a US/Canada/SL joint operation.

I am not naive to think that LTTE endeavours to procure anti-aircraft guns and technology will stop just because they caught few guys. What I am surprised and profoundly shocked is the denial by Tamil Congress and other tamil organisations. They have really gone to great extents and are at pains to distance themselves from these guys. Do you have any thoughts?

A bigger opicture emerges out of this. It is sad to see a bright young man like Suresh needlessly sacrificing his career by getting engaged in this sort of activities. Organisations should not recruit people like these for illegal activities when they know the risk involved and consequences.

I can not speak for the men who got caught. However I have met student leaders (in captivity). The COMMON answer I got was 'I thought I will get away with it' or 'I thought they will let me go because I am a student'. NO one talks about sacrifices socialisms or homelands. I am not making these observations to put them down. I am only trying to convey the message that they want to lead a normal life but someone, some political party, some individual have misled them to do activities that endanger their lives or ruin their careers.

The bigger question is 'Is it the student who is at fault or the jerks who make mislead them?

6 Wanni Tigers killed after suicide attack by Eastern Tigers

25th August 2006 -10:30 S.L.T




Six Wanni Tigers at a road block of Batticaloa, Vavunativu uncleared area after suicide member of Eastern Tigers rushed at them on a bicycle. This incident has occurred yesterday at day time. Six of the Wanni Tigers were killed, our Eastern sources said.



This is considered as the second suicide attack by Eastern Tigers lead by Karuna Amman. Firs attack was don on the 28th of July killing 10 Wanni Tigers at a road block in same area.



Eastern Tigers have announced they have 100 suicide members and earlier they have warned Wanni Tigers to leave Eastern province unless, they will be attacked.

In the strongest of terms possible, we categorically condemn this isolated incident....he cautioned the public that one individual's actions should not tarnish the image of the entire organization


Sounds like one of Tamil canuck act. Run away leaving behind friends and family in their moment of need! ;))))
