Uncleared areas hit by fuel, medicine shortage

LTTE held areas are severely affected by the shortage of fuel and medicine and as for food the LTTE has given the green light to the ICRC to facilitate the distribution of the government sponsored 3,800 metric tons of food items, expected to arrive in the North on Friday, Tiger spokesman Daya Master said.
He said that distribution of food items in Kilinochchi would be handled by the Divisional Secretary and the LTTE would not interfere in the distribution process.
On the present skirmishes between the security forces and the LTTE, Daya Master said his organization had not entered into a full scale war as the ceasefire still holds. `If the government is getting down arms from foreign countries to engage its forces in the present battles, that means they are not for a political settlement` he said.
Asked from where the LTTE is getting weapons to engage the security forces, he said that they were arms obtained from the security forces after victories over them. `Some of our weapons are obtained from international arms dealers operating illegally and that is a big business and happens everywhere in the world,` he said.

This is not true. LTTE stole 5 bowsers of each 66000 Liters of Petrol and Kerosene.
(LeN-Aug 23, 5.00 pm) The LTTE have retained all the bowsers that transported fuel to Jaffna and released the drivers and their assistants later.
As a result the LTTE has been able to retain 17 bowsers each carrying 33 000 liters totaling 561000 liters.
There is an acute shortage of fuel in the North these days, kerosene oil fetching Rs.100/- per liter and petrol Rs. 200 per liter. Edited By - AnuD - 23 Aug 2006 20:36:18 GMT |

There must be medicine shortage due to the sheer number of LTTE caders injured.
If LTTE is so concerned why not take the govt. offer to provide medical help in the south?
The reason may be that they donot want caders and child soldiers to 'spill the beans' as they will tell the world how brutally they have been recruited. Once they are 'injurred and useless' for their fight I am sure the heartless LTTE probably do not mind even if they die !! |

Over 1000 injured caders means not only medicine, not enough hospitals too.
Stolen fuel will be used for LTTE air force. |

It is pity that sole representative of tamils who run the de-facto estate with so called police, bank, publics administration system, and military wing is begging from the government again. Yes..Daya Master you are well experienced in begging.
As the legitimate government, GoSL took a right decision to send the necessary goods to north and east.
'If the government is getting down arms from foreign countries to engage its forces in the present battles, that means they are not for a political settlement'
These morons always compare a terrorist group with a legitimate government. It is up to government to decide whether it forces needed weapons and when to buy.
Should the government get the permission from LTTE before delivery???? Are they insane? |

I think, it is better to add this bitter truth too while burner is on. Though tamils beg Tamil Nadu for help and run over there as refuge often whenever cracker bursts in SL, they discriminate Indian tamils in Sri lanka a lot. There was one innocent State tamil boy in my university (one and only !, junior to me) and he was severe discriminated - harassed mentally and physically by Sri Lankan Tamils. One day his back was burned using an electric iron by Jaffna tamils and we found he was left unconscious in a bath tub in a university hostel. Rest four years, he stayed with Sinhalese students. This is how so called freedom fighters treat their brothers, then forget about Sinhalese.

| Sri Lankan government is the only government in the world which send commodities to enemy territory. And these sole representatives of Tamils grab these item and charge exorbitant prices from the Tamil people. What have LTTE supplied to people under their control? They were kept there by force. They milk them for money, labour, their children, intimacy. etc. These are real animals. |
