This was your post!! You do not think it was opened by LTTE cos no video camera!! it was your sarcastic way of saying it!!
LTTE do not have to show anything they don't need cheap publicity or convince anyone in the south cos they will never believe LTTE anyway!!
Do you agree it was the Govt who boasted that they are just 100 mtrs away..(((There is a thread in this forum))) if you do not remember i will find that for u..it was like long time ago..20th of July i suppose!!
so if they were 100 mtrs away..why they did not carry a camera!! |

I can sympathise with you since I live in country where I belong to the minority. And being a minority I get my fair share of descrimination. But that does not mean I go and fight for a seperate homeland where I live now.
Please give me a break!! Tamils homeland is also sri lanka and they are not asking for special favors in any other country than sri lanka..How could you compare where you live with what is going on with Tamils in sri lanka!!
Also I have realised by living in this country that sometimes you actually feel descriminated for all the wrong reasons. Couple of years back I was harrased by two ticket officers on the train for carrying a wrong train ticket. (The ticket was was wrong b'cos of an error in the ticketing system which I didn't realise then) Knowing that I havn't done anything wrong I argued with them and they made some bad comments. At the time I thought all this b'cos of my background. But then when you see that same could happen to the majority you realize that sometimes you over react.
What happened to you with the ticket is not discrimination..This is the problem with all of us..U had a wrong ticket..let it be for any reason and the ticketing officer checks and questions u..and you at once think it is a descimination..No it is not..
The discrimination is when you have been treated differently in a situation where others were not due to race!! that is discrimination..
In Sri Lanka when Tamils are asked to register every time they visit SL is discrimination..
Yes!! if someone makes a comment then you have the right to argue!! but it is not discrimination!!

Refugees face trouble exchanging currency

RAMANATHAPURAM: The Sri Lankan refugees landing on the shores of Rameswaram have a new problem of exchanging currency.
Hitherto, they had to grease the palms of all and sundry to get to Indian shores and after complaints of transit camp officials grabbing their valuables were highlighted in the press and action taken, the refugees are now faced with the prospect of losing more money in the absence of banking facility to exchange their currency for Indian money.
According to Mandapam camp sources, on current rates one Sri Lankan rupee is valued at 48 paise in Indian currency. The refugees are forced to exchange currency through touts and agents swarming the refugee camps. The refugees are given 40 paise for every Sri Lankan rupee.
Recently, intelligence officials detained a refugee while he was trying to exchange Rs. 20,000 in Lankan currency through an agent. He was however, let off after a severe warning. |

LTTE always agree for peace talk when they are at a disadvantage in the arm struggle. In the past they have done this to buy time for regroup. Evaluating the current LTTE losses it appears that they are doing same again.
If LTTE is really for peace, they should have done it with the genuine peace brokers like the UNP government. What they are going to get out of Mahinda Government which is full of racist like the JVP/Hela Urumaya. |
